Who Is Making The Best Drill Press For The Buck??

Same here. Mine has Black & Decker labels on it but I got it at Sears and can't find any difference between it and the Craftsman one of the same size. I have made a LOT of holes with this thing an no problems so far. Unless you need really high precision, you can get by with an inexpensive drill...

    Trip to Wisconsin

I remember Bill's, my Dad used to buy ammo there in the mid-late 80's :) Do you remember Chip's burgers? Still there and I think they're still using the same oil in the fryer...

    Elmax Test from the Raffle

Thanks for the updates. I like CPM-154 very much, and it's great to see the bar has been raised again. Next we need a comparison between ElMax and CTS-XHP, because in my little bit of testing the XHP is edging out CPM-154, too.

    When it all comes together...

Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug. Sounds like you turned a bug week into a windshield week ;) It's true that God still loves us even when we feel lost and alone, but I also think He helps those that help themselves. By that I mean, you helped bring about good "luck" or...

    Trip to Wisconsin

Glad you enjoyed your trip, Wisconsin is a gorgeous place to visit or live. I remember when I was a kid (mid-late 70's), they told us eagles would likely be extinct by the time we grew up. Now I see them at least once a week (I live near the Wisconsin River). Funny how that works when people...

    Texans in the Dallas area

Don't think I'll make the trip, but it sounds like a good time. Hats off to Cabela's for promoting such fine makers!

Ideas for portable band saw stand?

I would strongly advise much thinner stock for a sabre grind that "short". As drawn, it appears to be near 1/4" at the spine and it won't cut worth a hoot. The bevel angles suggested by your drawing are more suited to a big chopper, not a 4-5" blade with a fine point. Thin is in, baby, and...

I have some blocks of wood I've been keeping an eye on for years, they haven't magically turned into anything useful yet. :confused2:

Due to a series of unfortunate events

Again, like other fellow dogs have said, hang in there brother. You're a bright, honest, hardworking guy, and your love for your family will guide you through tough times. Please don't be a stranger, go to the library or borrow a friend's phone just to pop in and let us know you're OK.

    Temper twice?

Yes. You can leave the oven at temp, it won't take very long for the blade to cool between cycles. You can even put it in the freezer to save time.
