    KITH idea

I have a feeling there is interest in a KITH but it may be a timeing thing. A lot of guys are full booked up with summer things and the thought of adding to that may be over whelming . I did the last kith and had a good time but it was a winter time thing. Lots of part time grinders are looking...

Looking for some input on technique

Forming the brass is fairly easy. Just remember brass work hardens and you will have to soften it by heating it up and quenching it. It's opposite from steel. Erik

    fire brick I.D.

It could be a paver but you won't know till you try. DONT put a cold brick straight into a hot anything. That is asking for trouble . Bring it up slow and let any water leave the brick. Check it as the temp rises and look for a melted/ glassy surface. Erik

    fire brick I.D.

Great find. Free is almost always a good thing. Fire brick come in both hard and soft. They both have there place and advantages. Hard being more durable and soft being more heat efficient . try putting one in a fordge or kiln and running it up to temp. It will tell you if the brick is rated...

    A lesson in folder making.

Calvin, I feel your pain. I've done the same thing so now I have a parts tray for each folder. I check it befor any final peening for "spare" parts left over. It's not fool proof but it helps me keep track of the pesky little parts. oh, great looking folder Erik

to leave it in or not to leave it in

So can we hypothesis that this idea can be applyed to most steels AND coolents both fast and slow when quenching to get the secondary toughness from the final air cooling. erik

    Slipjoint blade thickness

ken I think in most cases the blade doesn't fall completely into the liners. there is usually some of the spline outside with only the bevel entering into the liners so you have your clearance being made by the cutting edge. Erik

    Slipjoint blade thickness

Ken there are three ways of doing it.... maybe more :0 first, you can do nothing and make the blade and spring the same thickness.... trouble here is you get a folder that works but will get half moon scratches in the side of the blade from rubbing on the liners. works OK but looks bad...
