    NT Kith 2013

As bad as I hate too, I'm going to have to drop out. Just ran out of time to finish it up. Between this divorce and getting the house ready to sell, my knife making has taken a hit lately. Look forward to seeing all the entries.

    Epoxy

I bought the huge bottle of Acraglas from Brownells almost 18 months ago and it has served me well. From the looks of it, I might get another year or so out of the bottle! I tend to use more hardner than is needed, which means I'll probably have to buy a bottle of that before long. But it's...

    Flitz wax or Rennisance Wax

I've used the Mothers wax on quite a few handles and I love it. Never thought about using in on the blade. For the blade, I use a thin coat of Ren Wax. It works well.

    Just a knife

I went into shock! I don't think I've ever seen one of your knives that didn't have wood on it. This is such a clean and simple design and execution that it ends up being a very classy knife. Nice work!

Problem with O-1 or is it me???

Hey Cal. I'll make one more suggestion and that is to get yourself some Parks AAA from Maxim Oil out of Ft. Worth. You'll see a difference in the hardness of your knives! I bought a five gallon pail last year and I believe it was around $85 shipped to me. They also have some of their own...

    Handle Size

I agree. Take the front down a little more. Personally I'd round those edges just a little more also. I know, I know...it can be hard to force yourself to do it. Make a knife that you don't plan on letting it leave you shop and then really round the edges and contour that thing. If you're like...

Official Summer 2013 KnifeDogs Knife in the Hat Thread

And so is that BadA$$ blade I got off of you! I make it a point to show it to everyone who comes through my Garage/shop :)

    kudos to Alpha Knife Supply

My only problem with Alpha is that they don't carry enough of the thin 52100! :) I knew I should have bought all they had the last time I ordered from them. Srsly though, I love doing business with them. Just wish they would take PayPal and make it easier to order online.

Problem with O-1 or is it me???

I had a buddy that had the same problem with an 01 blade. Told him to put at least one oven thermometer in his toaster oven and he found it it was almost 100 degrees too hot. I can get my toaster oven set where I want it one day and do nothing to it other than start it another day and it may be...

Questions about the uses of the different leather weights

I just recently bought some Herman Oak leather from Springfield Leather. Prior to that I'd been using Tandy leather and got tired of the quality (lack of) and price. The HO from Springfield was not only cheaper than Tandy, the quality was outstanding. The cleanest, most uniform leather I'd seen...

    slight recurve

I know what you mean! I'd been buying from our local Tandy store and didn't know any difference. Recently I bought some Herman Oak from Springfield Leather and WOW! It was the cleanest, blem free stuff that I'd ever saw! And as a kicker, it was about a dollar per square foot cheaper than the...

    Wearing a knife with braces.

How bout a fanny pac? When I'm out in the woods or out fishing from bank, many times I put everything I need into a medium sized fanny pac. I know others who wear them all the time instead of using their pockets.

Anyone Know Len Landrum's 52100 HT Recipe?

I've been doing some studying on 52100. Just the other day I finally ordered some from Aldo and Alpha with the intent on making some Kitchen knives and probably a few hunters. I've seen on many forums the mention that Len Landrum is the guru of 52100. However, I have yet to find out how he...

Lower Membership fees, a slight selling change, a few forum changes

Thanks Tracy. I didn't renew my Knife Maker membership when it expired this year. Then the more I thought about how much I got from this forum, I decided to renew it. Got here and noticed you'd dropped the price! I know of no other place you can get this amount of info for $20 bucks, or 30 or...

    2013 Knife Making Progress

Looks like the shop is coming along fine! I'm digging it! That makers mark is looking good as well. When do you think you'll have a few knives to sell?

Found a good metal supplier on line.

I buy all my brass and copper pin material from them. You can get a 4' to 6' section for about what a lot of the knife supply houses want for a foot! I also ordered some mixed bar stock for bolsters from them. Quick and cheap!

hand sanding??? whats the big deal?

It's totally aesthetics. I can honestly say that whether or not a blade was hand sanded has never been part of the knife buying equation when I purchased a custom knife. It seems to be more important to collectors and those who prefer the looks of a hand sanded blade. Unlike many other makers, I...

Bounce this off you if you dont mind....

Eric, I couldn't agree with you more about a sheath being just as important as the knife in a complete package. So many times I see some real nice knives being offered up with crappy sheaths. I just don't get it. It really turns me off. Then you have makers like Matt Baily who excel in both...

WTF! This isn't supposed to happen!

I disagree. I think it's the Conjoined Clip Knife with his and her handles... ;) Sorry, couldn't resist. But it's the first time I've seen this in my limited amount of time as a maker and I think it is wild!
