Love that combo! Pure sweetness. That sheath takes the cake though. I don't think sheaths get near the attention they deserve. This one is the cat's meow!

I received my knife from Greg Haile yesterday. To be honest, I'd never heard of Greg before this KITH. I must say, I've come to believe this man to be very modest. The knife he sent me is over the top! It's 3/16 01 hollow ground with green micarta and black and white liners. What's more is...

Help me I'm in over my head

I sure wish I could help you out Eric, but electricity is like quantum physics to me, that's why I bought a Personalizer Plus! I so wanted to build my own, but as Dirty Harry says "A man has to know his limitations". ;) Good luck to you bro!

Hey Dan, I hate to tell ya, but your knife will be delayed by a few days. Finished the sheath up this morning and I'm just not happy with the way it turned out, so I'm going to make another one. Not sure what I was trying for on this sheath, but it's not aesthetically pleasing to me and there's...

Thanks Sean for riding ramrod over this. It's been fun. I just took a break from stitching the sheath up to check back. Glad to see the drawing was done when I got back....like the Heinz commercial says...the anticipation is making me wait....:)

Grind before or after heat treat?

On thin stuff like 1/8 and sometimes as thick as 5/32, I grind after HT. As others have said, grinding without gloves will let you know when you're blade is heating up. Also, sharp belts cut the best without building up heat.

Okay, so technically I finished on the 14th. It's nearly 1 a.m. here! The time really flies by when your sanding! This wasn't the knife I had intended to enter. I wanted to enter my first hidden tang, but since I've had a few problems with it, this is the one I chose as a backup. I've had...

simple ways to scribe the edge?

I have a cheap set of stainless steel calipers from HF and I have a couple of those pricey scribe tools. I use either dykem or magic marker to color the edge. I've used the calipers on about a dozen knives so far and rarely use the pricey scribe tools. The calipers are just faster and just as...

    Did It Get Too Hot?

Thanks for the response guys, I appreciate it. I figured that it was okay because the clean areas were straw colored and both thermometers read right at 400, but I wanted to be sure before I started grinding.

    Did It Get Too Hot?

I tempered two knives recently in my little toaster oven. Set the temp to 400, verified by two different oven thermos. When I went to take them out after two 1 hour cycles, I had some purple coloring mixed with the straw coloring covering the blades. Let me say that I try and temper just as...
