i tried it with micarta instead and worked a lot better!
i wanted to try it first and didnt have access to longer screws to be able to hold the micarta to the sander, so i used the spray adhesive to hold the micarta piece to the foam (discovered the foam was concave), im not...
i bought a 1/3 sander and so far made two trials
one was holding 120g with the sander clamps, that didnt work too well, only the front and back were effective but the middle part was bit too slack
my second trial was using spray adhesive, it was bit better but not good enough and it wasnt even...

Didnt know that, i do cover all of my body, except part of my facr and hands and i work outside too, but yeah, that stuff is nasty, specially since i work with a lot of it, i get covered in it!!

Im just trying to keep a low profile as much as possible, finishing knives i already started and thats it.
Its really tempting to start new things though! But cant even find workshops for water jet and surface grinding now

7" fighter, tapered tang, micarta handle. still needs to be sharpened (and even thou it was shiney after clean up it looks smudgy for some reason)
