How do you handle two or more blades?

I have a Heat Treat Oven ordered. Finally! Say I have two blades, time to plate quinch them, I remove one and quinch. What happens to the other during this time? Do I just close the door till I can get to it? Will the delay mess anything up?

    CPM154, HT question

I don't have my Evenheat yet but I have another Q: Is there a "preheat" for this steel? As in (Preheat too 1400deg for 30 min, then to 1950 for 45 min) Or just full speed to temp?

    Which Kiln

Yes, a pain to baby sit indeed! I have the time but I'm also a touch lazy. It will be the Evenheat with the controler I think. Will wait a little longer. Thank you all.

    Which Kiln

Thank You. One more - Does the EH manual have a thermometer so as to read the actual temp in the oven? I'm retired I have time, but I want the temp to be correct as well.

    Which Kiln

May I please butt in to your post? I do only folder blades and a VERY low production(hobby). The small manual control Sugar Creek kiln looks good for me since I don't want to invest too much for a hobby. However the small Evenheat kiln has a Setpro fitted to it. Question - Will I be able to...

    Temper twice?

I will buy a HT oven, right now saving enough scratch to get one. In the meantime, I'm studying and asking dumb questions.: 154CM "We temper twice at 500 deg for two hours each time" 1. AFTER THE FIRST TEMPER - Do you take the blade out of the oven and reach room temp then do the second...

What's your favorite production folder and why?

My fav is the Spyderco Sage Titanium: The leaf shaped blade is multi purpose, just the right length(3"), and ground thin enough to slice well. The handle shape fits my hand like a glove, even though it's all metal, it doesn't slip in my hand. Lockup is solid and easy to deploy and unlock...

What's your favorite production folder and why?

It's hard to pin down a fav because I don't always have the same needs. The two knives I keep going back to though, are the Large Regular Sebenza and the Sage Ti. The Seb is large but the slim handle makes it feel smaller. The Sage's handle is so fitted to my hand it's as though it's custom...

What are your favorite blade steels? Why?

I guess We've tried all of the super steels and they are very good at holding an edge. I did miss the ease at bringing an edge back of the old steels I started out with. Yes I used 01 and 1095. I like: 154CM VG10

What are your favorite production folders?

I have most of the knives on the list, and like them all. Voted for Spyderco. They fit my hand well, are just at home. I keep comming back to them. The steel is great and best of all they full flat grind them for super slicing.

    Custom Knife Maker?

Am I allowed here? I've seen some of your work and it's far and away better than mine. I'm not sure I am one? I make very few and sell very few. It's always been a fun thing to do for near thirty years now. I like this Forum though.:)
