Hey Larry, I can take care of that for you. Send me some info and we will talk. I can make just about anything and any size with what ever she wants. And we can keep it just between us!
Found this ironwood duck at a yard sale today. Came in at about 6 lbs on the bath scale. I let my son carry it around while I looked at other stuff and he has not let it go. And I thought I was going to use it for knives.
Blade, Damascus= $200
Handle, Satablized Wood= $50
Fancy Pins= $40 each X3 $120
Total Price for materials= $310
40 Hours making a $200 Knife= Priceless
I think that I will stick to my salvaged stuff.
I would prefere not to know how has my name or how I have. Less pressure. I will do my best with this one, I have already commited to the other KITH on this forum. It is due about the same time.
I like the idea. I have always thought grandpa's barn had some good stuff in it. Old farm parts, broken shovel hands, and the old rusty nails. Sounds like some time spent in his yard would be fun.
Keep the coats thin and few. The thicker it get the more brittle it will be. Just dropping it on the ground will chip and crack the finish. I have finished an EDC this way and it is all chipped up. The supper glue did not stay on the full tang very well, chipping away from the spine. I did...
I just had to save it! It was going to be put to sleep! Don't let it die!
My time at the scrap yard proved to be good. This is a 5" post vice with the post broke off. Still works great. The price was good, $20! Some days you are just in the right spot at the right time.
Looking for heat treatment for O1. I would like to start using it and still keep the heat treatment inhouse. I have a propane forge and a toaster oven.
