The thicker steel looks and feels better if the tang is tapered. Your friend should be able to help you with that. It is not really that hard if you have the right tools. There is little tricks to every thing. It does look really good. Hope to join all of the others with mine soon.

I have some extra wood that is too big for the stuff I do. I was woundering how big hawk handle need to be. I have some red walnut that is about 1 1/2" and some maple that is 1 1/8". If any body is interested I will get pics of what I have. Thanks. James Clair, Archer Moon.

Be very carfull with the old truck springs. They do have stress cracks in them that do not show up until you go to polish them.

Mine would have to be one of Jarrett's strait razors. Some thing I would be using everyday with pride. Some thing that feels good in my hand, every day.

Just got a new grinder, to me, for $30! Not the best, but with a little work, it will be good. The grinder is a rockwell with a 1"x42" belt. The motor is 1/2 horse at 3450 rpm. The shaft is 5/8" on both the motor and the drive wheel. The two shafts are about 12" apart. There is an...

As to the file guide, look for an old copper flaring tool. Pawn shops and yard sales will be your best friend. The flaring tool is hard enough to withstand the files and is cheap. I found mine in a junk pile in a pawn shop for $1. Have not done a lot with the files. Have a small wood sander...

I have to thank every one who put this show on and came out on a misty, dull weekend. This was a great show. The people there are great. I learned a lot, met a lot of great people and had a lot of fun. Thank you for all the knife makers that came from all over the world. This was great!
