    1084 Neck Knife

Here is a neck knife I got done with a week ago. The scale from heat treat was left on and I dipped in ferric chloride for 2 minutes to etch as well. Thanks for looking. Steel - 1/8" 1084 Length 6" 59-60 RC

    Need some imput

Here are the two drawings I came up with. Both will be 1/8" cpm154. The scales will most likely be black g10 with stainless corbies and tube and a mosaic pin in the middle. The sheath may be a man purse style that holds a knife on each side, not sure yet. Since its a set I don't want separate...

    Need some imput

Thanks for the input. I just ordered some CPM154. Now to draw up a nice drop point and a nice skinner. I am thinking a 4" blade for the drop point and a 3.5" for the bullnose skinner right now but am open to suggestions.

    First Folder

Les thanks for the tips! I will try to do that on the next one. You brought up a point I think I may have ground the tip a little to one side. I also think my drill press was not square. John I will try to adjust the tension to see if it helps. Thanks guys.

    First Folder

Well this is officially my first folder completed. I am so giddy, and my wife was almost impressed.:o Its a friction folder, and a little rough around the edges so it will stay with me. It is 1084 steel with orange g10 scales. It seems to operate just fine. The only thing that I really didn't...

    Pattern for fishing/fillet knife

I found no patterns when I made my first. I just looked at the rapalas from walmart and got an idea of the thickness, width, and length of the blade. I also looked at the handle sizes for ideas. Then I made it in my version. Good luck and post some pics.

I am thinking of a bullnose skinner and a sort of pointier drop point than normal, with a separate gut hook tool also. Thanks for the advise!

    BBQ fork question

I want to make a two prong bbq fork. I have 1/8" 1084 steel. The question is on the hardness of the steel. I don't think it is necessary to have it hardened to 59-60 rc. Am I correct here? Would the fork perform well at the annealed state or should it be hardened and tempered down further than a...
