Slippie with engraving, damascus and mammoth

Gday folks, Here is my 2nd slipjoint with damascus i made during my week with Bill Burke, 416 bolsters and liners with mammoth ivory. The engraving on the bolsters was done by young Aussie Manda Guest. This is the 1st deep relief she has done for me. I reckon she just might get to do a bit...

Knife Makers, What Handle Materials do you use most?...and why?

    1. West Australian hardwoods, because thats where i live and they are hard, no stabilising necessary 2. Stag...the Aussie stuff is 80% pith, and ordering sambar tapers and rounds on line you end up with rubbish. I presume you mean wood so Buckeye, not available in Aus but i managed to collect...

New Sheath for Blood Sweat n Tears

Gday folks, Normally i make my own sheaths but i felt this knife deserved a sheath from Mary Carter. Mary had pretty much retired from making sheaths but after some buttering up by Max Harvey and myself, Mary agreed to do it. I think she has done it pretty good:biggrin: Cheers Bruce

    Rise and Fall Indicator Issues

Why not use a drill bit shank as your temporary pivot pin. Some rise and fall indicators are not very thick and the pins tend to wobble around a bit. Bruce Bump made one that is about 3/4" inch thick and by using longer hardened temporary pins your reading will be a lot more consistent. Cheers...
