Nice piece of mammoth. I hate the smell when working it, though. Makes me gag. :15:

    Latest electro etcher design

I'm not sure I understand your reasons for "pulsing." Would you mind explaining that a bit? Also, I think you will get better results using TSP as an electrolyte...

Finally broke down and did it, got myself a mini mill

Here's mine, well, rather the one I had. It was a HF mini mill, which I totally broke downm stripped, and modified from the ground up with better bearings, and drive belt mod. I hand-dressed the ways and installed new worm screws so it moves like butter. I also reworked the electrics, and...

    Stainless

I just used anything in the low-400's and that always seemed to work well for me. I was never too fussy about it - I just used what looked nice and would take the finish I was after.

    Plate quenching

Nice to have an advocate, John! 2thumbs You are right on about the quick release. I feel that it very quickly puts the plates in contact with the blade. Plate quenching is awesome for finicky steels like 154CM or ATS34. For me, it kind of takes the dummy factor out of the equation. It also...

    Hi Everyone

Long-time, no-see some of you guys! This forum is going to be cool I think. Speaking of st...thinking... I have been thinking that I could make a few tribal-style blades to get myself some funds for new equipment. I have a friend that once said he had a Peter Wright anvil I could borrow...

    What is everyone working on

Since my sabbatical from knifemaking, I have been building guns and gunsmithing. I just rebuilt this AK47 from a Romanian AK. Without going too much into it, there is a federal law called 922r that states imported AKs need to have a certain amount of USA-made components. My next project...

    Hi Everyone

I'm Jeff Higgins. I used to be a knifemaker. A lot of you know me already. I left knifemaking a few years ago, and took a real job. It was probably the biggest mistake of my life. Everything went downhill from there. I was making some good cash, and had some benefits. That part was good...
