    What are you listening to?

Parkway Drive will get me through the holiday crunch. Hollering along with Winston is going to add some gravel to my ho ho ho by the time I'm caught up.

    Needing 2" wide .270-.300 thickness S30V

Knifedogs - I'm in need of 14" of S30V in .270+ thickness and at least 2" width. I've checked and called around, and have some more calls to make yet, but I need to cast my line here as well. I'm open to buy it outright, or trade knives, service, or possibly materials. Let me know what you...

    Occlusion in bolster pin

it looks like the inclusion is near the edge of the bolster instead of towards the inside of it. Might clean up as you shape the bolsters. I'm with Terry - I just knocked a set of bolsters back off last night due to a pin showing.

New sub Forum - Services Offered - Work Wanted

This is a great idea. Thanks, Tracy. Having a services portal really is going to bring a lot of diverse talent together.

    Quench plates

Excellent. That's more than sufficient - if you have someone with a suitable bandsaw those are more than thick enough to split again into two ~1.375 thick sections 3.25" wide. Just curious how much you paid?

Handle inlay, pantograph, possibly collaborative work?

Again, thank you all for your input. I've got some time to work on this one and am mulling over options. PM's received.

Handle inlay, pantograph, possibly collaborative work?

Thank you, Wayne. I may have direct access to that book, as well. I'll take a deeper look - the only reason I'm leaning towards the inlay of the brand using the pantograph is that I can have a wide, bold character to the lettering. I'll see what's obtainable with the wire.

Handle inlay, pantograph, possibly collaborative work?

Here's the update. This spring, after Christmas, the client wants to move forward with two knives with this inlay, 00/, into the handle scale on the logo side of the knife. There will possibly be a blade etch for the monogram, which I can handle on my end. These are going to be nice knives...

Handle inlay, pantograph, possibly collaborative work?

I've done some thinking about the Christmas time frame with this, and looked up the very nice but also thousand dollar plus vintage pantograph mills and finished the thread and associated documentation regarding the home built version. For this knife, this year, I'm leaning strongly towards...

Handle inlay, pantograph, possibly collaborative work?

rolynd - Thank you for the link. I will definitely look into this, as the holidays always bring additional requests for customization. It looks like a good machine.

Handle inlay, pantograph, possibly collaborative work?

Separately inlaid. Looking for high contrast between a dark wood and the bright nickel silver. I myself think that would look very classy but it's beyond what I'm going to be able to achieve by hand.

Handle inlay, pantograph, possibly collaborative work?

I have a custom job coming up with something new. The client wants a handle inlay different from the regular shield that I typically install through the handle scales then etch for monogramming or other embellishment - he's wanting the lettering of a brand, OO/, inletted into the scales with...

    Tracking down some steel?

If you can't find it, I have an idea. More experienced forgers will chime in hopefully. You can get the flat bar in some pretty thick gauges, and rounds up to 2" or so from what I've seen. You might be able to have one of our members with a press squish a larger section to the thickness you need.

    America's Freedom Lodge Knives

I was given the opportunity to provide a batch of 10 hunting knives for a wounded veteran's hunt sponsored by America's Freedom Lodge in Ohio. Chris Conley, a wood carver and metal engraver contacted me about the hunt from Oathkeepers.org and I couldn't turn him down. It's been a busy few days...

issues with 3M cubitron yelllow belt

I had a batch of 40g Blaze from AWG that were cut out of square that wobbled really bad until they'd stretched out and were about used up. I laid them down on the workbench where it was measured to be flat and the warp was very visible. Next box of them was fine. Someone must have zigged...
