Epoxying question for you "seasoned" pros.

Well said, Ed. I ordered Acraglas from Brownell's a couple of days ago, I think. It's on back-order, though. But after talking with a lot of people both on-line and off, I tend to agree with you.

    Dog's Head hammers

Having never pushed hot metal, I joined a local blacksmith's organization recently so I could become exposed to forge, fire and tools. Last night at the gathering, I noticed several guys using Japanese made dog's head hammers. In asking questions, a lot of accolades were made about what they...

Thanks again, Kevin. Being my first knife, that means a lot. (even if it's not a Bowie!!!)

    Bevel Grinding Jig

Thank you, Brandant. Nice to receive a compliment from both a knife maker and someone who also knows about carving knives.

    Yup, another Maker's Mark question.

Okay, thanks Mike. By the time I get that $7 bottle shipped to me it's going to cost over $20. This is gettin' too rich for my blood. Trying to find it locally and save the shipping. I appreciate your offer on the bottle, but don't want to bother you with it. I'll keep looking here. Can't...

Epoxying question for you "seasoned" pros.

Thanks. I appreciate the accolades from you experienced knife makers.

    Yup, another Maker's Mark question.

I've had several people mention that............which is why I decided to go that route.

    Yup, another Maker's Mark question.

Here is my logo: I don't disagree with Ed's opinion on the subject. I just don't think there's enough room on my tiny blades. The oval is only going to be 1/4" tall, I don't think if I put my name in there that the letters would even be large enough to read.

    Yup, another Maker's Mark question.

I've got the Stainless Steel Activator, Citric Acid Powder, Table Salt and Distilled Water. All I'm missing in Ferrous Sulfate. (and I can't find the danged 8 0z bottle anywhere!) What else am I missing, Mike?

    Thanks a million.

    Thanks a million.

    Yup, another Maker's Mark question.

I went ahead and ordered stencils from Ernie for my logo. Have all the chemicals except Ferrous Sulfate. He mentioned in his website it was available at most Knife supply outlets.............only none of the suppliers I know of offer it. I've been to all the hardware stores, pharmacies, DIY...

    Bevel Grinding Jig

As promised! This is the knife I'm calling "Ebony and Ivory"...............along with some Brass, red fiber and Cocobolo. I promised, I delivered! ;)

Epoxying question for you "seasoned" pros.

I'm sure that would work. The cuts we usually get in the carving class I teach at the Vo-tech are typically 1/8" to 1/4" long....................falling short to be worthy of anything like WoundSeal. But they can sure bleed all over everything. Had a woman in my class who was carving a...

Epoxying question for you "seasoned" pros.

That's what I've been told..................but I've never been able to get Cyanoacrylate glues to glue shut an actively bleeding wound. Blood seeps around the edges of a butterfly strip.................at least both of those observations have been my experience. A Bandaid strip pulled tightly...

Thank you, Sir. Bandaids are a carver's best friend! ;)

Epoxying question for you "seasoned" pros.

Thanks, Retro. I started with 1/16" 01. Thanks, John. It's certainly not going to be a handle I replicate often. I know I couldn't make any money if I were trying to sell them. Most carving knives seldom sell for over $65. This angled stack was a booger-bear to do, especially since it was...

    Damascus Hunter

Wow, nice lookin' knife. Love the Damascus blade and your file work. I love Curly Maple. Have a very large stock of it and will be using a lot of it on my knives.

Epoxying question for you "seasoned" pros.

Okay, Gentlemen, let me introduce my first wood carving knife................"Ebony & Ivory". It's actually a lot purdier than the picture, but I wasn't going to put together all my lighting equipment for a quick shot like this one. I've been at it a long time and I'm tired of messing with...

I'd be surprised if you "real" knife makers are anxious to see my tiny little knives. ;)
