    CPMS30V hard to cut

Ken, This year I have tried the Sandvik steels and I am very impressed with them, they are so clean compared to most! So easy to get to the clean steel underneath the light discoloring of the raw bar. Easy for the customers to sharpen, acts like carbon steel with the benefit of being stainless...

It is a good tough steel, but I think your customer will cry when it comes time to sharpen it. I gave that stuff up fairly quickly for...

    Stencil problem

Thanks for the input guys! Looks like I have some some tinkering to do. My etching machine is an older Lectroetch 10amp model with variable voltage, has a amp meter on it that barely moves when I etch and I keep the power level @ 40%. I will try a lower setting and quicker touch time to see if...

    Advice On Hardness Tester

I have used this hardness tester for over twenty years with great results. It is a PTC 415C hardness tester. It is portable and chucks up into a drill press. It is very precise instrument and comes with test blocks. Also needs to be used in a warm environment like Kevin said. I have checked this...

    15" flat platten?

Just my opinion, but if you want to get something flat use a disk grinder ! I have never had any luck getting the flats on my knives "flat" on a platen, no matter how perfectly flat the platen is. Not trying to be a stick in the mud here, just say'in what works for me. Sincerely, Clint
