    Some thoughts from Australia

More thoughts, I am being given a huge piece of eucalyptus burl, some curly jarra and something called fiddleback which looks really cool. I'm in Tasmania at the moment and there is lots of wood here, I am going to look for various burls. I have seen enormous ones already but they were too...

    Cork handle/floating fish knife

I grew up in a community only accessible by boat. A high quality floating knife would be rather popular up there.

no belt grinder how to convex?

You don't even have to try, it happened by accident when I did it but I wasn't complaining. You can use the handle of the file to keep the angle roughly the same. Part of the reason it goes convex is the irregularity in filing though. I guess if you used precision equipment it would be slightly...

    Some thoughts from Australia

She won't if I don't like the look of them. Penicuik teenagers are not to be trusted around little sisters.

    Some thoughts from Australia

I'm going to finish school first either way and I will go to university in Scotland if I get the grades. I need to learn to drive really before going so I guess all of that gives me some time to think about it. I guess I would be joining the large amount of people leaving Scotland, a few hundred...

no belt grinder how to convex?

I filed the edge like I would to get a flat grind by draw filing. I used a sanding block to finish the flats to 120 then a soft sanding block to sand the rest of the blade, I started from the flat and progressed to the beveled area and it made it curved. I got quite a nice Appleseed grind.

    Some thoughts from Australia

Australia is a great place and I really don't like Scotland but leaving family is something I don't like much. The family I have here are on the other side of Australia. The job I have been offered is on a sheep farm and bluegum plantation as a roo and parrot controller as well as other farm...

    Laugh if you will...

Functional fantasy knives are cool. Full stop; or period if you will. I think everyone should make one.

    Some thoughts from Australia

I have been in Australia now for a week and a half and the first thing I can say is how much respect I have gained for soldiers being deployed. I am here for a month and I can barely sleep for thinking about my beautiful lady friend, to go a year at a time without seeing loved ones is something...

    Laugh if you will...

I'm a teenager so I know about these things. This is one of the better fantasy blades I have seen. Only one blade and no knuckle dusters, throwing stars, grapples, lasers or skulls actually makes it a quality looking piece instead of something ridiculous.

Are there any other teenagers here?

If I ever actually make it to the USA I want to join the USMC if I can. I figure that if I go in the Royal Marines first it shouldn't be too hard. I actually found out the other day that the motto of House Lynch is Semper Fidelis, which is pretty cool if you ask me.

Dislocated shoulder and a snowmobile ride.

Wolverine is a super hero in the X-Men who has metal bones. They said that I am young enough that after surgery it will be just as strong if not stronger than before. Although it's a very bad dislocation they said I am healing faster than they would expect because the Austrians kept me in a...

Dislocated shoulder and a snowmobile ride.

Here is an update. The cartilage around my shoulder is ruined and the actual bone is badly damaged. That's about the extent of the information right now. My shoulder will be rattling around in a most unstable manner until I have it chopped to pieces by some kind of surgeon. I'm getting a metal...

Are there any other teenagers here?

Luckily for me tuition is free in Scotland for the Scottish. Unluckily it means that I'm unlikely to get in because foriefn students are prioritised as they pay. Things will get very expensive I think. I might go straight into the marines though which should pay for pretty much everything. Right...

What makes a complete knife shop?

I didn't even think about it being considered rude. You know, when you learn something new you hear it a lot more. I learned about hand and a half swords yesterday and that's the second time I have heard them mentioned. Back on topic though, a drill, saw, file and sandpaper is all you...

What makes a complete knife shop?

My shop is a flat @@@@@@@ file, a 1/4" chainsaw file, a hard and a padded sanding block, a G-cramp, a drill press, an angle grinder, a hacksaw and a not-dremel. A mini forge would make it far more than a complete shop. I would recommend a centre punch. It's very overlooked and I have drilled...

    Combat knife design

The different opinions of military are why I want as many as possible, that way I can design knives for any preferences. Gladiator is cool so the biggest tanto can be gladiator. The largest regular blades knife will have a tribal name but I am from the north of Scotland and my local tribe would...

    Combat knife design

It's only late when I am too old to make knives. It's impossible to design a knife which can do the best in all situations but this design is supposed to be a jack of all trades type. The different sizes are a mixture of a desire for variety and the fact that I haven't quite grown out of Rambo...
