So who makes the best hand held eyelet setter for kydex etc?

I have purchased a couple different hand held eyelet setters and have not been impressed with either one. The eyelets hold great when set but cosmetically it just looks botched. I just dont make enough knives to justify buying the dies and press but still would like to get good looking results...

    Corby bolt problem.

Man that seems to be cutting it close Bill. 1/16 is not much wiggle room. I dont think im that good. Do you use a counter bore or a stop of some kind on the bit? BTW This handle texture style is just a variation of how you taught me how to do it when I asked you a while back. You probably dont...

    Corby bolt problem.

Thanks for the advice guys. Unfortunately I was on night shift last night and didnt wait on the replies.:34: I took the knife down to the shop and tried to put a small tack weld on each Bolt with stainless wire. I figured I would burn some of the G10 in the process but thought I could just...

What makes a hunter or a hunting knife?

For a general all purpose hunting knife I think the Buck 119 is one of the best designs. Im not saying buck used the best materials or steel in this knife but the design serves well and I believe its bucks all time best selling knife. When cutting out the intestine of a whitetail deer I dont...

newbie attempting first knife, with questions

Sears sells a craftsman 2x42 belt sander that I started with. I still use it today for slack belt sharpening and the flat disc on it is used for getting scales and bolsters flat. I dont feel I wasted my money on it but Knifemaking got alot funner after I built my NWG using Tracys plans. 1080...

A couple beauties there man! I wanna say thanks for the knifemaking tutorial you did a long time ago in a Texas hunting forum. That info was gold to me when I started making knives. I referred your tutorial to a co- worker the other day who used it to make his first knife. Thanks man!

How long should my sharp blade last?

I hear ya on using a small knife to bone out a deer. The right tool for the job makes all the difference. I now use a very large boning knife on my deer and it really does make a difference as far as hand fatigue goes. http://www.mcmaster.com/#quenching-oil/=erdjn4 This 11 sec oil made a...
