    thanks Tracy im all fixed now now back to razors i love the ease of 1/8inch folder pivots in my razors but if you liek the look of a tapered tang or are doing a restore and not starting from scratch the pin and peen method is what you might want ot use my scales are one piece so i liek 3/8...

    just buy a good JP style san mai blade (has handle on it) and make a new WA handle for it most JP style (WA handles ) kitchen knives are handled with the cheapest wood they can find as they are looked at as tools

    3v in .100 thickness

    tacy i jsut saw that you have some thin 3v by chance can i get a sheet 3 or 4 inches wide i would love to make a set of kitchen knives out of it but 1.5 inch wide is a bit short for a chef knife

    cpm3v and cpm M4 are not SS but they are high alloy they offer a bit better rust protection but are still jsut high alloy tool steels jsut a cause i get some other makers lump them in to the SS cause there not really forge friendly :D

    Plate quenching

    just cause im a trouble maker i have plate quenched O1 in 3/32 and after temper got 62-63 hardness move the steel fast to the plate and pres it hard and you can clear a pile of heatout of a blade also the blades for heat were not ground sept for to cut 45 degree starter cuts on the blade...

    drilled holes for folder pivots might work but im with you on making the hole as clean and round as i can in my shop i hate all the slop that gets covered up with oversized washers

    most the time i jsut drill holes and make them work but when its a folder we are talking aobut its predrill undersized and then heat treat. lock in the mill and use a multiflute (4 or more flute)ball endmill made of carbide to chase the hole i dont have reammers so this is how i do things...
