    help with 440c and cm154

I just heat treated a 440c and then a cm154 blade. Reset the furnace in between, etc. Here is the 440c. You can see the color change along the blade. I took it to 1400 for 10 min. Ramped up to 1900 for 30 minutes, then quenched between .75" aluminum plates and hit it with my compressor...

    Little edc

I truly hope he likes it. It's one of my favorites to date. And even though files aren't optimal, they sure look slick when they are finished. Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk

    Thoughts on

I bought a lb1000. I found a suitable vfd on Craigslist for cheap, a crate 2hp 3 phase eBay motor for cheap and haven't looked back. I wouldn't trade it for world. The vfd is worth whatever you pay. I had to save to fit the whole thing, but I can't imagine making a knife without it now...

    Little edc

I made this for my Godfather. He sent me a piece of bog oak a while back when he found out I was making knives. I had a chunk of file, so I made him a small every day carry. It's about as big as most folders I have when open. The scales are bog oak and yellow box burl with white liners. My...

Christmas KITH Questions, PICS & Updates

Here I am with my new archer moon custom knife! Please pardon the face. I was born that way. The knife on the other hand is fantastic! I love copper accents and the copper pins and spacers have me itching to make my own knife with copper components! Thanks again. Archer moon! Sent from...

Christmas KITH Questions, PICS & Updates

Here is my entry! Its a little rough compared to the rest of your knives. I am very humbled after seeing all of the entries. Mine is made from Aldo's 1095. I clay treated it, and there is a very slight hamon visible. I know it could be brought out more, and perhaps the person who gets it...

Christmas KITH Questions, PICS & Updates

This will serve as my status update. I heat treated tonight and will begin the labor of love that is hand sanding the nonsense out of it tomorrow (or Friday, triptophan is a very real, very dangerous thing.) I decided to wing it. I havent done that in a while, and it has been fairly...

    Elk Skinner (also first Hamon)

AHHHH, no elk... we got close, but not close enough for a bow. Had it been rifle season, well, then we'd be munching on some elk jerky. Next year!

Christmas KITH Questions, PICS & Updates

Man, these all look amazing. I am still in the "design phase" on mine. I have a knife I've made for myself and my best friend that I will probably make again, its a hunter/utility knife. Ill get going on it now that hunting is over for the season. I'll have some time to dink around in the shop.

    Elk Skinner (also first Hamon)

Made this for an upcoming hunt. I had posted earlier pictures in the HT thread, but now that its done, thought I'd share it here as well. Blade is 1075, stainless bolsters and pins. The handle is coolibah burl. This is my first official hamon as well. I tried once before and the blade...

    YEAH! my first hamon!

finished! You ever wander around your house with your phone in hand trying to get the neighbors wifi? Thats what i looked like as I stumbled around the garage trying to get the right light to make this look decent. Finally got a good spot and took the pic. Not glamorous, but you can see the...

    YEAH! my first hamon!

You're not kidding. I can only imagine what itll look like after skinning an elk, but again, thats why I made it. :) I will take some finished pictures here in a bit to show the actual knife all done... It came out pretty well!

    YEAH! my first hamon!

So, it turns out that when you take the advice of the gurus on this site, things work out pretty well! This is a skinner I am making for an upcoming elk bow hunt (which I admit by making a skinning knife all but eliminates my chances of actually killing an elk). I used the last half of the...

    1075 crack...

Well, thats the plan for the next one. I just hung up the phone and a pail of Parks is on the way. Between a better quenchant and proper steps for heat treat, I have a much better feeling about the next one. I wanted to share this as well, I made this little straight razor out of a scrap from...

    KITH idea

I'm in. I'll be the first to tell you in a noob, but I can make a knife. It's pretty nerve wracking knowing your gear will be scrutinized by people other than my family and friends, but I'm in if you have the room.
