    Design Thoughts

The finished knife, I realy like, well done. The center knife and the Wharny, I like, I do think that the changes that Rob points out would improve both. The first one in that pic, it just doesn't appeal to me, sorry, there is no, smooth flow to the lines, but that is just a personal thing on my...

    Folder ?

Just finishing up my first folder, using a trapper kit as a pattern for my slim line trapper. I got to thinking that on the next one, I want to use a bushing in the pivit hole, which will require a larger hole in the tang. My question is, how much metal should surround the pivot hole in the...

    Mirror Polish tricks and tips?

Another thing to remember, is that before you can get the scratches out, your work must be flat so your paper can cut them out. By that I mean that if you have a slight dip, from grinding, in your blade, and you go to your hand sanding with a stiff sanding stick, your paper will float across the...

    need quick Bader III feedback

I have had no problems with my Bader B111, it is smooth, tracks fine. I am not impressed with the combination arm, which is a platen, slack belt, setup with a 5 inch contact wheel on the bottom, and a 2" idler wheel on top. The contact wheel is almost useless, and the platen is shorter than I...

    Small Shop Stainless?

I used to get those looks, just using the kitchen oven to temper in. Don't do that anymore. Hey Rob, what if you drop one of those 1900 degree envelopes on the vinyl floor? I would be in the Dog House for sure. Dale

    Small Shop Stainless?

Any of the mentioned steels can be treated in a small shop, if you have a kiln with good temp control for the long soak times that are required, 30-60 minutes are not uncommon. I use alot of 440C and CPM154CM. Dale

    Avoiding legal problems

I agree Rob, it is all messed up when you can sue someone for your own stupid actions. No one takes responseability for their own actions anymore. And lawyers have created alot of this, job security I guess.

    Fillet knife questions

I would go with stainless, and have used 1/16" thick 440C for fillet knives, full flat ground, and have some warpage problems when heat treated after grinding. So I have changed to heat treating before grinding the bevels, then grinding is a slow go, and eats belts. The first fillet knife that I...

    Avoiding legal problems

I know this is an old thread, but I have talked to a lawyer about the LLC, and he advised me that if I am personely making a product, and someone gets hurt with it, they could still sue me personely, but if I own a company where an employee makes the products, then the LLC would protect my...
