    Stag Hunter "Raw"

I sorta kinda thought I'd make this knife for myself, since I haven't done so in over four years now. I've had this full stag tine laying in a drawer for nearly 10 years and figured I'd put 'er to use. This is a take-down stag hunter. W1 with a nice hamon. I wanted to make it 'nice', but...

I was asked by a good friend and ABS MS to make a knife for him to add to his collection of makers he admires. I was pleasantly honored to fill his order!

7th Annual Fox River Knife Rendezvous

OK - this is the 7th annual Fox River Knife Rendezvous on Sept. 10th, at 906 Porten Rd., McHenry, IL 60051. It would surely be great to see some new faces. This is the one-day-event sponsored by Rob Lindquist, and attended by many people we all know, makers, collectors and enthusiasts alike...

    The "Samurai Hunter"........

........or West meets East meets Mid West: Seems like every time I get in the same room with Joe Keeslar I get this "infection" and need to come back home and make a Brut de Forge. It's a disease. So, I came up with the "Samurai Hunter"! A traditional wrapped handle with ray skin...

    Li'l Ivory Hunter

Thanks, Josh - sure wish you would have stopped by. Next year. Yes, it is Walrus. I have found that if I don't spend any money on 2nd rate handle material, I just end up buying the good stuff!

    Li'l Ivory Hunter

I've had this small piece of Ivory laying around now for nearly two years and decided to make a dressy little hunter out of it. I hope you can spy the chatoyance in this blade. It's something I've been working on, and it exceeded my hopes, that only first-hand observation can appreciate...

    Ironwood "Mesabi" for Blade

Figured I'd better post up a knife before I got lost in the mix. I have a handful to get finished up this week and will have a nice varied "supply" on my table this year. This knife is dubbed the Ironwood "Mesabi". For those who do not know, the Mesabi Iron Range in Northern Minnesota...

    The "Hawg Skinner"

One I have dubbed The " Hawg Skinner" since she is going to accompany me to Texas on a wild hog hunt this Spring. 1095 San Mai blade and stabilized Sheoak "Rays" for the Take-down handle. Stainless guard. Note what I call 'fish scales' in the Sheoak. I called Jessica at Alpha Knife Supply...

    Laminated Coco Bolo Hunter

This one is a result of a lot of challenges. I got the original inspiration for this from fellow knife maker Matt Bailey. When I saw his knives this past year at his table right next to mine, I was sure he had been laminating Damascus on top of a high carbon core. After some cajoling on my...

    help cru forge v

It's such a slow steel that you are getting air hardening. DO NOT!!! go above non-magnetic!!! Just get it dull red, so that it still grabs a magnet and try to slow cool. You may need to do it a couple times, but that is exactly what is happening.

Ebony and Ivory Integral $425.00 I forged this Integral from a 7/8" round bar of 52100 bearing steel. The handle was shaped from a block of premium Gabon Ebony and has some very unique striations throughout. The oval inlays are cut from a Mammoth Ivory tusk. Since the outer portions of...

    Forge Build

Nathan, I've been following along with your build and it looks like you've got it surrounded! Nice job. Mine is a vertical forge, but the same basic principal. Fuel + air = heat. I run mine at about 4 psi. Maybe tweak it up to 4.5 and open the air some when I'm welding. But you've got to be...
