I have a Case stockman for daily carry and use a fixed blade I made when I hunt. My hunting knife would never get sold to a customer. The fit and finish are just not good enough but it has worked fine for me and I have never had the urge to make myself a really nice knife. I like knives well...

I finished a couple knives that will be given as gifts to a customers sons. They are alike in profile but I used different file work and handle material on each of the blades.

I was kinda single minded when I was making the grinder and never stopped to take pics. The grinder was based off of some plan I found when surfing around the internet. The plans for the KMG clone gave me some good ideas but I didn't follow the plans. I just kinda winged it.

I've used the grinder a little bit and it's light years ahead of the 2x42 Craftsman I was using. The biggest difference is the belts I'm able to get for this grinder compared to the belts I had to settle for with the Craftsman. The longer, adjustable tension arm seemed like a good idea...

Is it odd looking? Yes. The more I look at it, the more I think it would be very handy and that would make me forget about the proportions. I could see myself gutting a deer with it.

I really like that set. I would carry it in my pack, seems a little wide for belt carry. This gives me some ideas.

I tend to over engineer things myself so I love to see someone build a stand for a 75 pound grinder that you could park a truck on. Great job!

Thanks for the kind words. It's fun to try new handle materials. There were no surprises with the buckeye but I can now add that to my short list of handle materials I have used.

I wanted to try some buckeye burl on a knife. The last time I was at the SDS knifeworks shop, Shawn gave me some to try out. The knife is larger than I usually make. It's 10 1/2" OAL, 7/32" O1. Big thanks to Shawn at SDS.
