thanks, the color of etch mainly depends upon what you use and how long you leave it in there. this one was done with ferric chloride for quite a while. some steel doesn't take a uniform color either. just all depends on the technique and the chemistry of the steel. that makes it fun for me...

this is the slim version of our B3 design. Nicholson file, recurve hollow grind and dark acid etched finish. at 7.75" overall, it will practically disappear in a pocket. has sort of an evil look to it, just in time for Halloween. :biggrin: liontribe

Thanks much. I couldn't say what acid ratio I use. I heat my water just a bit and add two good size chunks of ferric. I use solid ferric chloride that I have left over from my old job as a chemist. Two ping pong size chunks with a warmed gallon of water. The solid ferric is easier to use...
