You might try to tig the back side, but I doubt you will get anything to solder to stainless. I too have tried just about everything in the course of general shop work when working with stainless. I guess it's pins, or pins... That being said, I have a client who manufactures stainless...

I'm coming to this thread a little late, but I will say that the VSM belts are pretty good for the $. At 1/3 the cost of Blaze belts, they're a winner. There's nothing better than using a fresh belt and at the VSM price, I don' t mind changing them often. John Emmerling...

I actually don't think this this is a big deal as it's simply a matter of welding 2 pieces of clean steel together w/o flux .Not there yet as time permits but will post success/failure pics. Thanks for chiming in. john

I guess there's only way to find out. :) Those white lines in my billets caused by flux contamination are gone now. I haven't tried a feather w/o flux but will do so soon ...and hold my breath. John

Bruce, Not knowing where to start heat wise, I picked 2325-2330, and everything welded nicely w/o scale, or use of kerosene,WD40 etc. It was a totally dry weld. I haven't had time to explore what the bottom temp line is, but hopefully someone will chime in. Soak time seems to be the key. After...
