New EDC model plus a "Zombie" skinner

Got to get in some shop time and finished these two up. I posted a couple of crappy pics down in USN Chapters and Get Togethers. Here are some slightly less crappy pics. The first is a new design for me; I call it the Vector. It fits my idea of a good all round EDC that would fit the...

#12 Drop Point with Box Elder

Ernie, I commented on the knife on another forum but I wanted to add that the sheath is really well done and that dark brown really accents the Box Elder. Again, really nice job! 2thumbs

This Would Be Funny If It Were A Joke

That sounds like something that would happen to me! Glad you kept your sense of humor. You're right, laughing at yourself is the best way to keep from blowing your top.

    Drawing a fine line [ BASHING ]

Drama and conflict beget drama and conflict. Before you know it everyone is taking sides and 2guns. I've seen too many worthwhile contributors disappear as a result of it on other forums. I really appreciate the way Tracy and the moderators deal with issues before they become issues. I love...

    EDCs: Fixed Blades vs. Folders

I teach for a living so carrying a fixed blade on a daily basis isn't possible. I usually just have a slipjoint or a liner/frame lock with a 3" or smaller blade on me at work. When I'm not at work I usually slip my BM 630 Rukus in my pocket. That one always draws attention when I open it...

    Sodbuster for a Lady......

Nice. The Sodbuster is probably my favorite slipjoint; I've carried one off and on for the last 25 - 30 years.

    Template material

Stabber, I bought some clear acrylic (12x12) from Enco. I got it fairly thick so that it would easily hold the transfer punches when I'm marking holes on the blade blank. I got the idea from Scott Jones.2thumbs Until last year everything was just a drawing glued to cardboard and cut out.

    World's best thread about grinders...

No need to be embarrassed; that's not bad for a starter grinder. I started on a 1x30 Harbor Freight before moving "up" to a Grizzly

    Harbor Freight Portaband

That would be one advantage of mounting it as I have. It is only bolted in existing holes. Unbolt it and replace the original screws and you can use it as a portable or carry it back to HF. As for taking good care of it; Les cuts a hell of a lot more steel on his than I do on mine. If I...

    Harbor Freight Portaband

The bottom of the saw is simply chocked in by a couple of wood blocks that are screwed down to the bench. I have to remove them to take the cover off when changing the blade or cleaning it out. The metal brace is attached by way of a couple of bolts that screw into existing screw holes. If...

    Harbor Freight Portaband

I've had mine for 2 - 3 years now. Definitely worth the price for starting out and it doesn't take up too much space. Here's a pic of how I mounted it to my bench.

My life flashed before my eyes!

Cal, I'd say that rates a Sphincter Factor of about 9.7. I use a hard felt wheel and I get leery every time I approach that thing.

    Revamp my playlist

Some great ones ( and quite a few I'll have to check out) already listed. If you don't have any Kevin Fowler you really ought to give him a try. I would also recommend a couple of other Texas artists, Carolyn Wonderland and The Mother Truckers.

    2x72grizzly?

Rey, I have a Grizzly that I have used for several years and it sure beat working with a 1 x 30 HF. I think the biggest issue that you might want to address is the lack of variable speed on the Griz. Spencer Reiter (SAR Global Tools), who started with a Griz and sold it to me, likens it to...
