    particle woes

ah! I have itchy eyes now! That's sounds immensely irritating! Just thinking about a tiny sliver in your eye is enough, let alone Doc drilling through your head..... My sister somehow got a fuzzy caterpillar cacoon to bounce off her face while playing in the woods and had to have 80 or so...

oh wow! Ok. That's leaves NO question as to what I will do. Thanks for caring! :bud: Now, I need to find out if all respirators are created equal and if there are any to avoid. I know to get a two canned one. What else?

    particle woes

Am I wasting my time using a dust mask? I have been using N95 type masks.....which ever ones seem to have the most materials on the packaging. I want to get a twin can respirator but its about $60 at Home Depot. What I want to know is are the masks I am using doing much good or are the tiny...

RR spke knife and hawk set

I believe someone from the applicable time period would trade a lot of horses for that combo! Those are very refined! Nice wood on the hawk also.

    knife #4 (first forged blade)

Thank you guys very much. Like i said don't hold back, I want to make good knives that can be used in real world situations. I didn't even think about making a handle that was safe to hit with something strait down, and that could most likely happen. There is a wealth of experience and info here!

    my plunges could be better

So it sounds like there is no avoiding some hand sanding. I can live with that, especially if I can get a better grinder to boost efficiency. I thank you Sir!

    my plunges could be better

yeah im hooked I may not ever make them for a profit, but ideally it could offset some of the cost. I really want to see how good I can get. My mistakes glare at me but I know what I need to do to improve. I am building a mini press right now so I can make some pattern steel and some of the...

    my plunges could be better

those lines are what im looking for I didn't know about the truing of the wheels. I believe That would help me with consistency. I could probably use 6 wheels because I don't have knuckle clearance and have to do one side one the left and the other side on the right. I think I would need...

    my plunges could be better

awesome! That is what I wanted to hear! I can and will improve with what I already have because I know it can be done (I love that knife above). BUT in the end (as funds allow) I will build a welded NWG-ish type grinder. I wanted to know if it was me or the machine. It is some of both. I...

    my plunges could be better

I have trouble getting out the deeper grindmarks from my plunges. I like to tell myself that I just need to invest in a 2x72 and it will make plunges and bevels easier. Right now I use a 6" bench grinder, angle grinder, 6x6x36 belt/disc grinder, bandsaw, drillpress, dremel and lots and lots...

    knife #4 (first forged blade)

This is knife #4 forged from a Crosby 9 1/2 ton shackle. I don't know what the make up is but it felt tough to move with my 4 lb hammer. For the first one I didn't want to use expensive steel. I used cypress for the handle. Homemade layered veneer and a red spacer. The first handle was junk...
