    Ball Vise

Great job on the vise. A couple of weeks ago, I went to my storage warehouse and got two old bowling balls with the same idea in mind. Did you strap the ball to a board to hold it and cut it with a band saw?

Colored stacked birch bark handled knife

One of the most interesting handles I have seen. I absolutely love it. I wish we had some birch here in the piney woods of East Texas!

It's a Bridgeport. The machinist just has very large hands!

    Need New Belt!

You could always make a belt for it out of leather. I have seen a lot of older machines that run leather belting. I have an old punch press that had a leather belt on it. Just an idea.

    Snow Day damascus hunter

Wow! That is one good looking knife. I don't think you will get much criticism on it. You guys have been getting some nasty weather up there. As long as you have a good heater in the shop, I would welcome those "snow days". The next time I am in Abilene, I am going to give you a shout.

    Another knife...

All that knife needs is a hard hat and a lunch pail. Looks like it's ready to go to work.

    Snow Day Folder

I really like the knife. I'm very new at this and I am hooked on making folders. I have the same problem you do. It is hard for me to slow down and really take my time. I want to see how it is going to turn out! I bet that after a few more it will be easier to slow down. You already know...

    Slipjoint #3!

This one is long and lean. She gave me a little more trouble than the last one. I got too close to the edge when I was spot welding one of the bolsters and it made a little divot in the liner that shows on the spine. The part that really had me worried was after peening it together, I sanded...

    Slipjoint #2.

This is knife #8 so far and my second slipjoint. It's nothing fancy, but it looks a lot better than the first one. Thanks to everyone here for making this site such a great place to learn. A special thanks to "PAPS" for all your help. Blade = L6 Scales = Smooth Bone Dovetailed Bolsters =...

    Band saw blade

Looks like gang saw blade. They are that size and TPI looks about right. They attach at top and bottom and they would be spaced 2" apart for 2" lumber and rough cut the log into 2" slabs, which are then run through a planer to end up 1.5". Did it have hangers on the ends with bolt holes where...

    Band saw blade

My family owned and operated a sawmill (Walker Bros. Lumber Company) here in Huntsville for over 50 years. I have made all of the knives I have made so far, which isn't that many (6 fixed blades and 1 slipjoint) out of the type of blade that I suspect you have. I believe you may have a gang saw...

Those are both beautiful knives. You are right, the sheaths are very nice. To me there is nothing better than plain, but flawless in leatherwork.

    Stitcher help please?

I have a Tippmann Boss and it will sew very thick leather (up to 3/4"). It seemed like it would be a simple machine and in some respects it is. However, it takes some time to figure out the adjustments when going from one thickness of material to another. They are also pretty expensive for a...

    Thanks

I read your post (if it was the one about being nominated in the leather category). I don't know what could have been taken as offensive. I was kind of moved by it! What does that say about me? In any event, I think all is well. Hope you are doing better.
