Here's my latest one (my 7th knife) -the followup to my competition Bowie

Awesome! The great craftsmen who contributed to that thread made it a great one. Glad you were able to take a few tips away from it. I learned a whole lot from it and glad it was a success. Thank you so much for letting me know what you thought about it and for the compliments. Really means a...

Here's my latest one (my 7th knife) -the followup to my competition Bowie

Thank you, Rick! That is some sound advice and I have come to that conclusion myself, just couldn't say it any better than that. Congratulations on the win. I bet that was a proud day. Sounds like we struggle with the same issues on grinding. That little area at the top of the plunge has...

    My efforts to date

Very nice work. On the pictures, I have found that I get great results taking them outside in the shade. I was getting weird results with the light box but will be trying a few new things with it before giving up on it. Keep up the great work.

    False Neo-Tribal vs. True Neo-Tribal

If I am reading Mr. Goo right, this thread could possibly be from a post I made in another thread and he is pretty much saying you can't make yourself a Neo-tribal Metalsmith, it is just in your blood. Kind of like hipsters always following what is cool at the time. If I'm wrong, my bad...

How to seal cracks in mammoth tooth ?

Sand down some ebony with 120 grit and mix the ebony dust with epoxy or a very thick glue. Fill in holes and sand the tooth to 120. Repeat as necessary until all voids are filled. I just got done watching "Working With Fossil Handle Materials" by the Turnage family :)

    Thanks for the help guys

Very nice work! You seem to be figuring it out quick. I turn on my Paul Long DVD every time I work on leather. Couldn't have gotten this far without it. So, another thank you to Mr. Long for all the help.
