yeah, that seems super dangerous :) i'm hoping to forge most of the guard to shape without the use of other power tools, but i failed to mention that.

How are you all accomplishing those sweet fullered guards? are you all making a super small fullering tool of some sort?

roger that, i did go ahead and shorten it sub 5" as I plan on putting it on a stag roll and then using a concho or something similar for the buttcap. I also rounded it somewhat while pricking around in the forge.

unfortunately, my truck decided that it doesn't want to brake anymore, ala wheel cylinder on the left rear tire and caused some nasty damage to the drum, etc. so I'll not be attending the shoot this weekend, nor the show that evening.

goodluck with the leaf springs, i'm using one right now from a coal mining buggy and it's a PITA to form the tip like Kevin Cashen shows :) I think i'm going to stick to round bar instead.

I've narrowed my tang down substantially from the thick round bar, its now squared and tapered to 5" long. The end is blunt as of now. The thickness starts at 1/2" roughly and tapers to 3/8" or a little less/more. Should I shorten the tang and round/point the end? Also, I plan on using a...

Ten four, it was/is that same blade...forgot to mention from tip to ricasso is 7.5 inches lol... Anyways, still having troubles with pushing the steel out and away. Its never a problem when doing the blade bevels but the tangs are pee'n me off lol.
