    3rd Annual KD July KITH

The knife I had ready to go is not cooperating, scales keep lifting and I'm not sure if it's the glue or the material or both. So, rather than take a chance sending someone a potentially faulty knife, I have to go with a back up. Not nearly as pretty, but a nice user none the less. I'll have...

    Took the trees.

Wish we could have got some of that down here. We've been matching and breaking records every day. Was 108 on Friday, 107 yesterday and 104 today. No sign of rain except north of us.

    Tru oil

Nothing quite like it. But it can take up to a week or 2 for the finish to fully set and cure against marring depending on temperature.

Knife #5 and Leather Sheath #1

Chuck Burrows' DVD from Wild Rose Trading on sheath making is another fine investment. A few tips: -You can groove the front only, set your holes, then run the groover on the back to "connect the dots". -Welts should only be about as thick as the blade. Now, having said that, sometimes it's...

    How To Finish Micarta/G-10

Usually it starts losing it's "fuzz" after 400 grit. So, a 320 grit to 400 grit finish will give you a smooth handle with a little grip.

    Inlace Acrylester - Questions

I agree, kitchen knives and display only knives. I made a lock back folder for a guy's dad using the blue silk fantasy marble. The father had been in the Navy and the design of the blue silk looked like water. Turned out great!

    Inlace Acrylester - Questions

I recently completed 2 kitchen knives using this material from Jantz...fantasy marble, http://www.knifemaking.com/product-p/fm114.htm It, too, is an acrylic. It wasn't wrapped in foam for shipping, just placed scale to scale and into a paper bag then boxed with peanuts. I had absolutely no...

    3rd Annual KD July KITH

So I have a question... The knives I make, currently, are made from blanks purchased from knifekits.com, jantz and Texas Knife Maker. Blades are usually hand rubbed for an added touch on the finish. I use everything from your basic plain walnut to stabilized redwood burl, micarta/g10...

    Tacked & Beaded Sheath

Very nice! Could you point me in the direction of a tutorial on doing the seed bead sections on the sheath? We have a French & Indian War encampment at a local fort every year and I'd like to start selling some knives there with sheaths along these lines.
