    Silver Sheath Tips......

Bruce - I elected not to go with a tip on this one. I think it would have looked mighty fine with that shiny bit on the tip, but I had to much trouble finding the right thickness brass sheet and this pieces needed to be completed on a deadline. However, I will give this a shot at some point...

    Inlaid Bubinga and leather rig

Thanks guys. Bill H. - Yeah, its pretty stout! I'm somewhat happily surprised at just how light it is though, at least compared to what I thought it would weigh. I'm sure removing all the wood for inlays and such reduced its weight considerably.

    Inlaid Bubinga and leather rig

This is a sheath I just finished for a large bowie. The slabs are of "Waterfall Bubinga. The inlay on the front is Yellow Birch root burl. The inlay in the back is a leather wear pad also stitched in. It has a full leather welt sanded down to get a perfect, snug grip on the blade. The full...

    Other Hobbies

As an extension of my passion for canoeing I have been carving paddles for quite a while. For a number of years I used to offer workshops and demos as well. I use traditional hand tool (draw knife, hand planes spoke shave,, rasps, and files) to do the bulk of the work. My favorite woods are...

help me out - I need pic's of jigs - Calling all jig pics!

Here's my high tech jig. A couple of door hinges, a couple of flat boards, a kitchen magnet and a 1/4 x 20 bolt. I have a shorter magnet and a clamp for smaller blades. It has its limitations, but it works for me.

    pre bowie sheath completed

Thank you for the advice. Are you concerned with a silver solder line being visible against the brass? I'm about to give this a shot, although my piece will be quite a bit smaller than yours.

    pre bowie sheath completed

Bob - That looks great! If you don't mind I have a few questions. How did you construct your tip piece? Did you solder two halves together? What thickness is your brass sheet? Thanks.

    Pic of my son

George - Your son has one of those: " I know I'm in a war zone and am risking life and limb every minute of every day, but I also know "I am cool"..... looks on his face. You have a fine looking young man there and he should be thanked for every day he has been in that war zone risking life and...

    Revamp my playlist

First.... I'm not real good at this new fangled internet music downloading thing so forgive my lack of proper links and such. However, here's a few of my current favorites: Woodsmoke and Oranges(which is a redo of Three Sheets to the Wind) off the album "Canoe Songs"...

    Silver Sheath Tips......

Josh - Its actually that sheath of Master Bump's, and that thread, that gave me the idea to do it to one I'm working on. However, he never shows or explains specifically how the collar and tip are attached. It just magically happens ...... pooooff...... perfection. I think he used barge cement...

    Silver Sheath Tips......

Leatherman - Thank you. By "rod", I assume these are essentially peened pins driven into pre-tapped holes through the metal tip and into the sheath welt?? When I used the word "gage" I was, apparently, not only displaying my woeful spelling skills, but also flaunting my perfection of...

    Silver Sheath Tips......

..... How are they attached to the leather sheath? ..... What gage or thickness is the metal? ..... Can this be done with brass? I'm speaking of these: (I hope Mr. Fuegen doesn't mind the use of his work as my example.)
