    Knife for a Co-Worker

Ummm, yeah, it wasnt the first time I missed, but it was the first time the knife stuck into the vise like that. It didnt even mar the tip at all. I couldnt resist taking a picture. I guess I need to improve my aim!

    Best supplier for Kydex

Interstateplastics.com is I think the best bang for the buck. I was going to buy just 10 sheets once, then i got free shipping by ordering two more, so now I have more kydex than I will probably ever use. The sheets are 12x24 too, so that is nice.

    Knife for a Co-Worker

It is just epoxy that squishes out when I clamp the handle slabs down. When I sand it off, it looks like that. Thanks everyone.

    Knife for a Co-Worker

This is for the 7th grade science teacher where I teach. He wanted a knife specifically to go through the pelvic bone of a deer. I made this one out of 1/4" 1095 steel. When I make a knife, I put a 2x4 in a vice and jab the tip of the knife in, then crank it from side to side to make sure the...

    KITH knife

Here is my KITH knife for the bladeforums Christmas KITH. I believe it stands for Knife In The Hat, but I am not sure. Anyways, it is 1084 steel, forged and clay quenched. The sheath is hand stitched and oil dyed. I really like this piece, I hope it goes to a good home.

Anyone like Hamons and Amber stag?

I love hamons. I would put them on my butter knives if I could. That one looks great!

Knife #2 see what you think

I agree with everyone, but 440c will need to be sent out for heat treating, unless you happen to have a heat treat oven at home. 1080 or 1084 0r 5160 are quite a bit more forgiving, and can be done at home with an easily built propane forge. Depending on the blade size, you might even be able...

    Happy Veteran's Day

I have never been in the service, but am eternally thankful for the freedoms those who have served have provided for me. A big thank you to any one in uniform.

    Hamon line

Yeah, I use one of those too, Not quite the cereal holder size, but a tupperware container, but just rinsing them off after pulling them out of the ferric turns the old sink orange. It is kind of my sink anyways, someday we will replace it, but not any time soon. When we do, I will have to...

    Hamon line

Well, now I want to try vinegar with the dish detergent, I didn't know that. Those stupid bubbles really drove me nuts the first few times. I am guessing that vinegar does not turn the sink orange either. I guess I dilute my ferric more than most people here. It seems to work pretty well for...

    Hamon line

Lemon juice will work as will vinegar (warmed up) I would be careful with the vinegar, I have used it before, and if you are not paying attention, little bubbles form on the blade and give a polka-dotted etch. I am guessing it is not the look you are going for. With vinegar, just move the...

    Fighter

Wow! Does living in Damascus, Oregon help you make steel like that? If so, I might move.

Who is going to the Ohio Classic?

Well, I spent tonight sharpening up the last of my knives. My left arm is pretty much bald now. I am all packed and ready to go. See you all there.

Who is going to the Ohio Classic?

Already there! Check the knife gallery for the Ohio show knives. That would be quite a trek from Arkansas/Mississippi, you going to make it?

Who is going to the Ohio Classic?

I will be there this weekend. If you are going, please stop by and say "Hi" (no this is not a ploy to get you to buy a knife!) Feel free to use your Knife Dogs name. It is how I know most of you anyways! Matt

    Knives for the Ohio Classic

Here are the ones I am taking to the Ohio Classic. I started setting aside a knife a month back in March. Every once in a while I would throw another in a box. Lately, I just finished up 4 that I wanted to squeeze in at the last minute. Now it is just a little sharpening, and off to the show...

    Traditional knife sheaths

I used to think the same way, sheaths were an afterthought and their only function was to carry and protect the knife. I still understand their prime function, but lately I have a hard time spending 15 hours on a knife, and then throwing it in a sheath that looks like it took me 15 minutes to...
