Another Tool, Another Step in the process

Just got another tool for the shop. I've been using a worn out old hand held hardness tester but now I'll have a little more confidence in the readings I get. It was just calibrated and I got a load of standards with it.

    "Flaming Rose" Mosaic Fighter

That is an amazing knife. Funny, my wife was just saying that my knives were prettier than some others she has seen on here and I told her, well there are also some here that make mine look like crap. About that time I clicked on your post and said "Like this one" Again it's a work of art. Mike

    List of recommended leather suppliers

I guess I went just the opposite direction. I used to order from Siegel but now I buy from Tandy. Mainly because they have 2 stores within 70 miles of my house and I can go and look at what they have and pick out what I want. I just got back from there today and bought 2 double shoulders of 8-9...

    Homemade stabalizing setup tutorial

Well just for grins I took a piece of Maple Burl that I had stabilized with MinWax Wood Hardner. I soaked in water from last...

    Mirror Polished Blades?

Well then I guess my technique isn't quite right. On a hollow ground blade it takes me way to long to get the hollow scratch free as I do everything above 220 by hand. Mike

    Mirror Polished Blades?

Do you guys price your knives with mirror polished any differently that a blade with a satin or bead blasted finish? I've been finishing up a knife for a customer and have spent way too much time getting the mirror polish just perfect. It's been a while since I've done a mirror polished blade...

I'm SURE someone has needed this before...

Did you use pins or corby's or what along with the epoxy? Usually the epoxy is stuck to them more that the blade it's self. Freeze them in the coldest freezer that you have access too and them as soon as you take them out rap them with a mallet and they should pop off or you can heat them in the...

    variable speed drill press

Find a treadmill at a yard sale or flea market or such and use the motor and controller out of it. I have one on one of my drill presses, one of my 1X42 belt sanders and my old Delta band saw. They are great and usually cheap.... Mike
