    OHHH CRAP! Now what?

It should not hurt it at all. You should see what tool steel does if it is left at 1850 for 27 hours.

    New Cheap Drill Press

Using a center drill to start the hole will help with drilling holes. They are rigid and don't walk as bad as regular drills. A #3 is what I use the most, it has a 1/4 body and a 7/32 point. It works well for both 1/8 and 1/4 holes. Joe

    Carpenter CTS-BD1

I don't know the heat treatment info on BD1, but the old blueprints at work that call for it get 4140 instead. I never have seen any BD1 but the 4140 doesn't heat treat enough for a blade. Joe

    CPM M4....

I have not tried it for a knife, but the parts I made for work were terrible to grind after HT. Lost more grinding wheel than I ground from the part. Great wear resistance compared to same part made from D2. Good luck. Joe

    D2 & A2 question

D2 will hold an edge much better than A2. I would use it if you are doing a small knife. If you do the heat treat don't let it go to room temperature before you temper it. It will not be as brittle if it goes in the oven at about 150 deg. Temper at least twice three times is better. Joe
