I have never dipped a sheath myself. But a guy told me those toilet rings are beeswax. he gets them from a plumber. He uses paraffin, toilet rings, and neatsfoot oil in equal parts.

i started practicing on a couple of junk chinese knives and some of my own pocketknives. also did some practicing on pieces of plexiglass on the edge, (1/4" wide) to see what kind of shape i could make with each file. Now i have fileworked each of my good pocketknives.

As i am still new to knife making and dont know, what are the dangers of not having a welt? That particular sheath did not have one. Right now i am making a new one for it, that is more of a pouch type sheath.

I have a customer wanting something special i am looking for pink pearl looking acrylic, corelon, synthetic, polyester etc. handle material. I can find pieces up to 1.5" wide but need 2.5"+ wide. I could use a 6" x 12" or 12" x12" actually and cut my own. 1/4"+ thick. any ideas who may have that?

I have a question, should you only do custom filework on stainless blades or high carbon (non stainless) also? Im worried about someone not taking care of a blade and it rusting at the filework. what do you guys think or do? If a customer ordered carbon and filework i would make it. But just...

I am new to knifemaking. I think i know how to make deer antler hidden tang knives. Looks pretty straight forward. But i can't find any info on how to properly make scales out of them for full tang knives and folders. What part of the antler is best for this (whitetail). How to smooth them out...

On the first couple of knives i did i had the same problem. my handles would become loose of i could actually peel them off by hand. I was using devcon 2 ton. also tried devcon minute. same problem. I read somewhere about over clamping the epoxy and basically causing almost all of it to squeeze...
