    Stripped 2-56 clip screws

Are they Torx? If so, I've had success with using a torx bit one or 2 sizes bigger, and tapping the bit/driver in gently with a mallet until it's wedged in pretty tight, then a firm twist. actually, I should clarify more...are the heads stripped, or the actual screw threads?

There's actually a good facebook group called Knot Just, but I'm not aware of any forums..

    Bending Knife Steel

Hi Guys, I'm a hobby-level knifemaker, and make a reasonable amount of 'industrial' type jewelry as well. My latest thing has been Titanium bangle/braclets, which I make by heating strips of titanium with a MAPP torch, and bending with a mallet. Have been thinking of doing the same...

    Titanium Supplier?

i'm looking to restock my supply of Gr.5 Ti plate, as well as perhaps try out some Gr.23 (6/4 ELI) Titanium in my jewelry making. Does anyone have any recommendation for a supplier? I used to get stuff from Halpern, and I have sent them off an email, but their website has been 'under...

Batch of Knapped BPK's (a small WIP)

Ben, Those look *really* good! I don't suppose you'd be able to show us a more detailed WIP bit about the knapping? Dave

Not quite a knife, but... (with thanks to Chad and B Bump!)

Laurence, Thanks for that. I use the guide for the outline of the 'blank', but the triangular facets are done on my belt grinder with an angle guide. Took a bit of trial and error to get the relative angles right though. Does the book you referred to have anything about working titanium...

Not quite a knife, but... (with thanks to Chad and B Bump!)

Bruce, I did think about setting a stone in some of my rings, but in all honesty, I don't know how! Does anyone here have suggestions? I cut the 'blank' for these (before the angular faceting) using a paper stencil. I basically glue the stencil onto the material, cut to approximate shape...

Not quite a knife, but... (with thanks to Chad and B Bump!)

Heh, oddly enough, it's actually *is* quite convenient to have when you need to open thick plastic packaging! ;) Thankfully, I'm somewhere that's slightly more permissive(outside of the US), so it's hopefully less of an issue. But naturally, I don't advertise this kind of thing widely. I must...

Not quite a knife, but... (with thanks to Chad and B Bump!)

...made using Chad's Moku-Ti, and some knifemaking tools. This is the latest in the line of 'unusual' rings I make as a hobby. My typical 'standard' design features the claw thingie that fits snugly under the neighbouring finger(middle finger, in this case) and can be rotated out for use. It's...

    Titanium heat coloring

I've actually managed to get all the way to the turqoise end of the Ti spectrum using a MAPP torch on 5mm thick Ti. I think the trick to getting a clean, even coloring is in the surface prep, and *patience*. I asked Chad Nichols a while back, and he recommended cleaning the piece with acetone...

    Making rings?

Sean, As we mentioned over the PM, I'm going to have to post the stuff about my 'method'(I use the term loosely!) for making rings from Moku-ti bar stock. PM's won't let me post pictures! I'm gonna have to do this in parts, mostly because I only have pictures of parts of the process at the...

    Making rings?

I actually make mainly rings out of 'knife' materials (exotic steels, Chad's stainless Damascus, and most recently Chad's Moku-Ti). I use entirely stock removal method with primarily hand tools(hand drill, hacksaw, coping saw, files) and a dremel. I cut my rings from bar stock, rather than...

    Drill press recommendations?

Laurence, Yep, that looks similar to the one I'm looking to get. Does that one have an induction motor? Does it run quiet?

    Drill press recommendations?

I must admit, I'm not sure about the spindle wobble, though the more I read about it online, the more worried I become! the unit in question is new, and from an Australian company. Not sure about manufacturing origin, but have asked them. Nowhere near the price of that JET model though! Must...

    Drill press recommendations?

Hi All, I'm looking to finally get a benchtop drill press to drill my titanium and steel, and was wondering what kind of specs people would recommend, from a Horsepower/wattage point of view, as well as RPMs? There's a 550W industrial model going for a good price nearby me, but the darn...
