    CPM-S125v datasheet?

mostly for the sense of achievement, and *exoticness* I guess. As I mentioned, I don't make knives to sell, so I don't have that kind of deadline to work to. I actually get the most satisfaction from initially making a blade, then modifying it bit by bit as I get new ideas. I'm the first to...

    CPM-S125v datasheet?

As crazy as it sounds..um..yes ;P I realize how hard it's going to be to work with, and I've worked with S90V prior to this. Thankfully, this is mostly a hobby for me, rather than an enterprise, so I can afford to take my time! Dave

    CPM-S125v datasheet?

Hi all, have managed to get a small amount of CPM-S125V from chuck and jess at AKS, but have not managed to find a detailed datasheet on it(crucible site says to contact customer service, but there's no email listed!) Does anyone have the old pdf datasheet from their website? Thanks...

    Heat Coloring Titanium?

Hi all! My latest project has been some titanium bracelets, which I make by basically heating strips of titanium in segments, and banging it into shape around a section of pipe(I'd like to pretend that there's more finesse involved, but really, there isn't..) I put a surface texture on the...

    My Tutorial on Anodizing Titanium

Les, That scales on that first one look exquisite! Could I ask what this 'pipe cleaner' method you mentioned is? Have been making some bracelets from Ti sheet, and will be using some of Chad's Moku-Ti soon, but am still toying with finishing methods.

    Question on Protective Gear, etc

Ok guys, this is going to be potentially embarassing for me, so be gentle... I've been making knives, rings and other assorted things from stainless steel, titanium, and G10/CF for a while now. My tools consist of a hacksaw, hand files, power drill, dremel, and small benchtop...

    Shaping/Bending steel

Chad, thanks for the offer. I really wanted to try it, if anything, just to extend my own skill/experience. Have been making rings and other trinkets out of damascus via stock removal, but never tried forging. Sounds like I might give this one a miss for now :) dave

    Shaping/Bending steel

Hi everyone! My latest project has been a Titanium bangle/bracelet, which I made from a strip of Textured titanium from USAKMS. Did the bending by heating the Ti on a stove, then eventually with a butane torch. Have been thinking of doing a similar thing with a strip of damascus, and was...

    Checkering Technique

I do have a file guide from Tracy and Lora, which I've only previously used while hand filing the grinds on blades. Would work perfectly for knife jimping I'm also planning to try and do some checkering on some Ti rings that I make - some of them have multiple flat surfaces (square and octagon...

    Checkering Technique

Did some searching, but couldn't find any definitive info on using checkering files on blades, etc. I've gotten a 20LPI and 30 LPI from Otto Frei (jewellery supply) and am going to start adding some jimping to my blades, as well as texture to the pendants/rings that I make. Was wondering...

    Rebending Locking Liners

A bit of an odd question - I'm not actually looking to make a folding knife, but rather modify one that I have at the moment. For those of you who are familiar, it's a Spyderco Paramilitary 2 with a Compression lock. Info on the particular lock can be found...

    D9 tool steel?

The description on their site says 'D-7' http://countycomm.com/straightwidgybar.htm What's SV-90? Haven't heard of that one either..or do you mean S90V? David

    D9 tool steel?

Yep, it's not a typo. I got some prybars and things from countycomm.com, which they say are made from D-9 tool steel. I can't seem to find anything about this steel easily online, however. Does anyone have any info/datasheets about this steel, in regards to its composition and HT info...

    Best EDC for $100 ?

Perhaps the Spyderco Paramilitary 2? The next batch is coming out around now, and they've made some tweaks to improve the smoothness of the action. Think street price is $105. Or for real value, the Manix 2.

    Ring Making advice?

If there was an 'off topic' section, I would've put this in there -perhaps some here can help me out? One extension of making knives for me was starting to make rings. Have recently started using Chad Nichols SS damascus, and it's looking *really* nice on the first few designs I've done...

Advice on machining heat treated steel

Thanks Les - I needed a few rules of thumbs such as that! :) Guess I'm gonna be taking it *really* slow for this one. Good thing I managed to get it really finished before sending for HT!
