    Knife #2 wip

Design Critique So after I finished my first knife about 2 months ago and then decided I needed more stuff. So I had a period of down time where I was waiting for my materials to come in and I had to step up a small spot to work. During that time I drew more then a few designs up. I think 90%...

    What did I do wrong?

Thanks guys... I grabbed the Avanti Pro wheels from home depot when I bought the grinder so they may not be the greatest. I also tried to plunge cut figuring it would save me time rather then costing me a day and some steel. lol Lesson learned I guess.

    What did I do wrong?

So I went to cut out the profile of my knife with an angle grinder. I just ended up skidding the wheel across the surface and at some point caused the washer to separate from the disc. This was my first time using this grinder since for my last project I used a hacksaw. Anyone know what I could...

    Drill Press

That's part of the reason I didn't ask about harbor freight. In some of the reviews it sounds like they send out a few lemons here and there. In a few months one is opening 15min from me but for right now the closest one is an hour from me so I didn't want to go through the hassle of binging it...

    Drill Press

What is the "suggested" rpm range for a drill press used in general knife making (wood, micarta, metal, etc...)? I found a 12" Ryobi DP121 on CL that is 600-3000rpm. If it is good enough then what might it be worth? The was asking 100 for it

    Design Critique

GHEzell I actually thought about dropping the handle when I first drew this one up but I let laziness get the best of me and didn't make up another sketch... Might take another look at it this weekend and see if I could come up with something I like. In the meantime I made some changes...

    Design Critique

What kind of steel do you use? I know to make this out of 1084 from Aldo a 7" piece is only ~$2.18. Which is fairly cheap. I did make a cardboard mockup of it but I feel like it's a little more forgiving then a piece of steel would be so I might not feel the point coming off the pommel like I...

    Design Critique

Thanks for the info... I can see what you guys mean by the handle coming out short because of the point near the pommel. I also wish to make usable knives not just a glorified box cutter so I'll work on taking it from spear point to a drop point. I think I focused to much on the aesthetics of...

    Design Critique

I haven't had much time recently to finish up my first knives but I do take a few minutes here and there to at least keep doodling a new design that I want to make when I have the chance. So if you could please give an honest critique of my most recent idea I would appreciate it. I plan...

Yea trying to do things on a budget in the city is hard but I'm trying my best. I actually for a motor for under $100. It is an A.O. Smith thats 1.5 hp, 1725 RPM, 15 amps, 115v, 5/8" shaft, 1PH, reversible and TEFC. The only thing that confuses me about it is that it is a type CP I'm not sure...

So I kinda spaced out and was only able to throw up one bid for that motor... It was unfortunately not the winning bid. So I tried looking for more and even looked at some local places and so far only one place replied and told me they can order one for 350$ :( Guess I have to keep looking

It says reversible in the title of that second one so maybe that means it is C/CCW able but I will make sure I ask before I bid on it... Thanks for the help. I'll let you guys know how this goes
