    Newbie- Flat grinding help?

Rex: Oh alright. I guess you're right there. I'll have to find a steel provider soon enough then.

    Newbie: Finally finished my knife

Doug Lester: Thank you Doug. Stainless steel is alright, I'd rather prefer a mix of both right now. Toughness is more in my realm of attraction when it comes to metal. What are some cheap but decen't tool and plain metals? The fact that it hardened the edges wasn't too bad i mean it didn't...

Charlie: What do you mean by grit point up?

    Newbie: Finally finished my knife

Charlie: This is my first knife "with a mirror finish", I have made 2 or 3 other knives, if you want to call them that :P. This is the first one I've sanded and made the handle material from something natural and sturdy. This is also the first time I have't used mild steel. So technically this...

    Newbie: Finally finished my knife

Jaysmith10: Thank you! I have a big chunk left of 304 but I already cut out some "Shapes" with the plasma cutter when I was practicing and I don't want to let the steel go to waste. I just have to bend them back straight because they warped from the Cutter... But I will try to get some better...

Yea what I don't get is why 4 in of glass if the machine takes 2 in belts. Wasn't Part of the point to get more slack on a grinder?

    Newbie: Finally finished my knife

James: Thank you :) I think i'm going to finish using my T-304 off before I spend money on any more steel. I'll keep working!

    Newbie: Finally finished my knife

This is T-304 steel. Same as your average walmart 5$ kitchen knife so as a strong tool it's not very good but I think it turned out ok. I didn't work out every single knick and scratch because it was for practice anyways. Any advice you could give me would be great! This was a first time...

    Newbie- Belt grinder issues.

Doug Lester: I see what you mean and you're right. About the angle grinder... that's a whole different skill that I personally wouldn't enjoy when it comes to the bevels and files would probably be the way to go for me but on the other hand this sander is not as bad as it seems. With adjusting...

    Newbie- Belt grinder issues.

rob45: Thank you for this info, and you're right. There are people who make incredibly well done work with few basic tools, and taking it slow usually means less mess-ups. So if I do happen to not have a sander anymore I would not stop knife making because of it. But because sanders are so...

    Newbie- Flat grinding help?

Josh: That makes complete sense. I'll think about that next time, before I go to a junkyard and buy whatever they tell me is knife steel. That how I bought a big chunk of T-304.

    Newbie- Flat grinding help?

Franklin: Haha thank you. Although I might do some wooden knives to see how the process works, for practice i'm going to use metal because then I get a sense of what metal feels like when using all these techniques. I'll try t post some later this week of the knife that I'm making right now even...
