    First Knife. Please Critique!

Well, I finally finished a blade. This is my first one, but I have been making numerous knives concurrently to practice each step. Of course, grinding the bevels is where I spent some time.... This knife is 7" OAL and made from 1/8" 1084 steel from Aldo. I heat treated and tempered the...

    Brandon Miller Knife Maker Extraordinaire!!!

I am a "new maker" too, only I haven't finished a knife yet, so even saying maker is a stretch... If my 20th looks as good as the one above, I'll be quite happy. Keep up the great work. Very interesting handle sculptures. Well done.

    New to this

We are in the same boat and I am just getting my supplies in to start this venture now. The advice about finding a maker is terrific. I discovered a maker who was only about 4 miles from my house...who knew? I learned a ton...about .002% of what I need to learn, but it was a ton!

    buffer safety

Good thoughts, thank you. I will have a grinder and the cork and felt belts sound great. Would they totally eliminate the need for a buffer all together? Just to be clear, the buffer is not in my immediate future as I head down this road. I have been reading so much lately that I am finding...

Bark River Knives Ice In pictures

Those look like the Grasso Bolo models. They come in few sizes ranging from medium size to very large. Bark River is one of my favorite knife makers because they have so many models and so many handles to choose from for each model. http://www.barkriverknifetool.com/Bushcraft.htm

You know, Darrin, I mistakenly assumed that the other forum was where you resided and didn't even think about this one! So, while I'm at it, I think a big thank you is owed to you as well for all of your terrific correspondences as well as your encouragement and advice to help get me going. It...
