    OPauls Knife Picture Thread

Sweet little knife. Looks to be a good companion to a dog and a shotgun on a sunny autumn day.....and maybe a fishin' pole to boot as long as I'm at it.

I like that first blade......Good transition into the handle on both of them. Nice "trench art" behind as well...........................

I like the shape of that. I tie nautical knots among others (I can't just sit and watch TV....even at 71). Some paracord or braided leather................ I'm not trying to suggest you do so but I wouldn't be able to resist................. Like that one.

The stag might not have but I sure like the look of those horn scales. I think they look really nice with that blade.

For those who use Renaissance wax.

Hello all. I was doing some research awhile back on application of this wax and discovered some interesting thoughts on a violin makers/restorers forum. Instead of an hour between coats as suggested by the manufacturer, they suggested 12 to 24 hours on their forum. The thought being to wait...

Fit and Finish: Glue lines proud over time.

Hello. While researching this I found a post on KDogs from Jan 7 2020 that may have the answer. "Another test I conducted... "glued" G10 to full tangs, let it cure for a week, and then into a can of water overnight...... next morning the G-Flex did not "let go" but there was a noticeable...

    Knife For A Turkey Hunter

Very nice indeed. I like the pins and especially the flying turkey engraving. Well thought out design that looks to be comfortable to use.

    I'm Back

Looks like excellent prep work before paint. In my youth I worked doing custom paint on cars, choppers, boats even private planes for very picky clientele and all the panels I can see look very well done. All the gaps between door to body etc. even and panels lining up "in plane". No warbles...

    Arisaka type 30 bayonet handle?

From what I have researched they used Japanese Walnut, Japanese Beech or Katsura depending on manufacturer and/or year. I have a fondness for bayonets and daggers and looked at my notes on the Arisaka 30 bayonets and can't remember where I got that information. Pictures of various type 30's seem...

Very nice. The faux ivory really sets off the ironwood burl and ties the etching to to it.

I hear you about wasting material. I looked in my antler stash and found an elk spike 16 1/2" with another 2" that was below the skin line/crown where it attached to the skull. A fairly long thin one. 1" approx. just outsde the crown and about 7/8" midway tapering to the point. Haven't ever...

Welcome. A lot of knowledge on these forums. Central Alberta (Brrrrr-LOL). I spent time in southern Alberta when I was younger and loved it there. I took my wife to visit old friends/family in August a few years ago and she said "How come you didn't stay in this beautiful place" after she saw a...

    Another Arno Bernard

Well I knew when I got my first two I would want another. Picked this one up at auction as well. Warthog tusk scales, N690 stainless, tapered full tang and beautiful fit and finish like my previous two. I believe it's older than the others and is developing a nice warm patina on the scales that...

I really like your unusual approach (At least to me) with the deer antler using differing orientations like that. I never saw the need to stabilize antler but I do now. I may try getting some elk antler I have stabilized to see how it turns out. Thanks for the post and the creative ideas it's...

Here is Practical Explanation about Next Life, Purpose of Human Life, philosophical/religious facts, theories etc.

Well............Myself.........All I have to do to understand life is to spend the day on the hillside where my home sits and let the birds, bugs and other wildlife show me that I'm just one of them. Not special or above them somehow. I like to sleep, eat, etc. and I don't live in fear either...

    New Guy

You can learn alot from the bladesmiths on this site. I have. I don't forge myself, I restore and repair vintage knives & cutlery and use others' blade blanks to get what I want for myself and friends/family. There's a good bunch of folks here with a ton of knowledge to share...
