That's exactly what I did. I insulated mine on 5 sides (Glass front I didn't do) with some Kao-Wool I had from a previous project. It will hold + or - 3 degrees. Only problem with it is if I do large knives.

Press I built is a 3.5" cylinder just under 3000 psi according to the gauge should be about 12T. Works good for what I do.

There are a couple plans out there. I bet if you are willing to wait for a right angle gear drive motor at the right price you could build one for under 1K

I agree that's why I did it. Was gonna use angle iron but more than likely would have used 2x4 to mount the casters I had. So figured I already have the wood use it.!

Added some 2x4 bracing. This is gonna serve multiple functions. Sturdy up the tool stand, give me a place to mount some casters and by doing this giving me a little more height. Just a tick under the 36" I wanted the top to be at.

With the Holidays finally coming to a close soon I hopefully will start putting this thing together! Need to get some casters and build the base for the tool stand it's gonna mount to! Hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and that the coming New Year is better than 2024!

I actually bought a cheap setup from Temu to round an order out. I havnt set it up yet though! Just to many things going on right now! I wanted to do this mostly for my SS knives. They are all heat treated and are a PITA to reheat treat if I over heat the tip especially!
