    Official Polling For Benefit Buildoff

Congratulations Josh! That is without a doubt a gorgeous knife. Thanks Dave & Tracy for allowing me to make one of the knives. Thank you everyone who looked at the knife I made and appreciate my work.

    Google sketchup tutorial?

Steve, I Googled 'google sketchup knife tutorial' and came up with only one on how to animate a knife, not sketch it. Could you post one of the links you found? I am interested in this also.

Stretching a titanium leaf spring .

Frank, I am sorry, but I must be dense. Attached is a sketch I did. Is the tool like shape A or B? Do you hit the Ti with the area circled in red? For shape A is it red area 1 or 2?

Stretching a titanium leaf spring .

Frank, is it possible to get some pictures of the process and tools? I didn't see this moved, so I asked the question here.

    Cork belts

I use green chrome with the 400 and 600. I have been thinking about getting an 800. When you used the tripoli rouge did you put it over something already on the belt or on a fresh belt?

    some of my knife sheaths

Those sheaths are gorgeous Fritz! I love the first one, the folder. Is that a magnet as the snap? Do you just do this as a hobby or commercially? I was stationed in Germany from 1973 to 1976 in Frankfurt, Augsburg & Stuttgart. Where are you?

    IKBS questions

I haven't made one yet. I am right now making a knife with Tracy & Dave's micro roller bearings. The next knife I want to make is with the IKBS to see what the difference is in both manufacturing and use. Duane Weikum of EDC knives responded to my licensing request - he asked that I send a...

    IKBS questions

Thank you for taking the time to answer Les. I had not thought about the balls making a track in the titanium. By your answer it appears that they leave a track depth of .0025. I use .015 washers, so I should counterbore to .045 deep. The 1/16" balls are .0625" = .045 (CB) + .0025 (track) +...

    IKBS questions

On the 'IKBS Making Of' page at http://www.ikbsknifetech.com/11/1504.html they speak of using an optional washer. Does anyone use a washer? If you do, where do you get it and what size is it? On another thread Les Voorhies says to use the following counterbores: "1/8" pivots use 1/4" CB...

    Hunt swap

Great Shawn. Let me know if you need information or any help. Here is a link to the training & orientation manual http://www.myfwc.com/docs/WildlifeHabitats/Alligator_TO_manual_2009.pdf. As you said, you have 5 or 6 months before you need to do anything. I agree with you, I want to be able...

    Hunt swap

I have my own boat, am a FL resident and hunt in my assigned area, so for me it costs a little over $250. Anyone that hunts with me has to pay $50 each person. We can take 2 gators from approximately 2' to as big as you dare. I searched the Internet for guided hunts and they range from...

    Hunt swap

To get a tag as an agent of a trapper is $50. To get a trapper license is $250 for a FL resident and $1,000 for a non-resident. The tag authorizes a trapper to take two alligators taken during a specific time period. A trapper can have as many agents as they want. The agent can capture and...

    Hunt swap

I have stabbed probably 100 hogs, but we hunt them with dogs. While the dogs are fighting the hog, we sneak in, grab the hind legs, and then stick him. I too have a bad back now so I make sure that I hunt with young, strong guys. ;) It makes it easier to carry out as well. What is the EHD...

    Hunt swap

On another thread we were talking about gut hooks and I shared some experiences about alligator skinning. It got me to thinking about maybe swapping a hunt with someone - alligator for ?? We use a bow and arrows and/or a harpoon for the gators. What and how does everyone else hunt? If we...

    Lets talk about gut hooks

Cliff, yes there is plenty of room to slip your fingers in on the bottom of the gator, but the problem is that the hide is so thick and tough, especially on the back. On the smaller gators it is not as big an issue. We just got a 10 footer this year and it took awhile to skin him out. When...

    Lets talk about gut hooks

I am like you guys when it comes to deer and a gut hook. Sometimes on real big hogs they seem to work a bit better. But I can tell you that on a gator they work fantastic! Especially if you are skinning them out from the back (to save the belly hide). Nothing that I have found works better...

Relief notch in Ti liners/frame folding knives

Yes it makes sense and was what I suspected. I wanted to make sure you didn't have some 'magic' trick that I couldn't see :D. Thanks Les.

Relief notch in Ti liners/frame folding knives

Les, how do you avoid grinding the handle and only grind the lock? The knives you shared don't have any 'over' grinding onto the handle. The knives look great by the way.
