Hey Steve, Heres my take on the CA finish......Its a lot easier to do it on a lathe with a spinning pen blank than a stationary knife scale. I don't think its necessary to go thru the trouble of all the layers and sanding and trying to get it even, when you can take a properly stabilized handle...

Story on those handles too.......nuff said.

I would use eezox.......I used to use wax but trying to pick all the wax out of the grooves and crannies after its hardened is a PITA... Eezox dries, not like most oils etc. Go look at the saltwater tests on their website. I've used it for awhile now and it works well.... Larry

Thanks for the comments guys.... I didnt make the cases, I just replaced the fabric and foam on the insides. The frame around the top that holds the glass should actually be thicker to get the foam to work right, but all 3 of the cases were $20 total (used), so that works for me.

Heres is one of mine. Simple cheap and works well. :biggrin: Round pipe fits into a slightly larger square pipe. Square pipe is mounted to the bench. Round pipe spins inside square pipe. Rounded wood pieces hinged in the back and lined with leather scraps for clamping blade down goes...
