    Propane question

Ok i'm making a burner, (In over my head as usual)...long story short I have a 3/8" brass male fitting coming off of it, and my fancy new regulator hose has some kind of weird 5/8" female fitting on it. It said 5/8-18 UNF on the hose. What do I need to connect the two? I need to get this thing...

Yeah i noticed that! If i had to pay for it I wouldn't have been half as happy about moving it. I got it cut into useable pieces, or should i say "movable" pieces. I'm already making a platen out of it.

I just acquired a nice piece of steel... It is 3/4" x 12" x 8 feet long, i'm pretty sure it's just mild steel. I was thinking i could use some to make an anvil (until i can get a real one) and i'm going to use some of it for a later belt grinder build, but i don't really know what...

    forge material questions

Can someone tell me how to figure the chamber volume of the forge i'm building? allowing for 1" of inswool makes it 6" round by 12'' long. I came up with 432c.i. but I don't have a clue if i'm doing it right.

    forge material questions

Ok so instead of just drawing it, I went ahead and built it.:les: here is the body all welded up. 14'' long x 8'' round. I then dropped back an inch on each end to make 1'' thick doors, that way i can use 1'' inswool to line them. here it is all marked up. And here is what it look like...

It actually works really well, considering I only have about $100 in the whole thing, and most of that was for the two contact wheels from Sunray. The only real problem is that the platen is a piece of heavy stainless that I made at work, and no matter how hard you try the bends always roll...

    WIP friction folder oops.

Ha! Thanks Lonepine. Well here it is, minus the CA glue finish. It's far from perfect but, I LOVE this knife! I've shown it to a few people(none of which had ever heard of a friction folder) and looking at it closed, everyone wanted to know what the big thing...

    Mora re-handle

A friend of mine wanted a different handle for his Morakniv classic, he didn't like red, and wanted a bit more length. Having never done anything but full tang knives, I decided to use a scrap block of Oak to test out the methods. I had then planned on cutting the Oak off and doing it over with...

    WIP friction folder oops.

Well.... I've done worse. Like gluing on scales, letting them set up, finish-sanding the scales through a few grits and then realizing I forgot to heat treat it. lol. The pivot pin was actually through the liners and into the scales a 16th" or so on each side, I was trying to just take the...

    forge material questions

Wow. I'm learning alot here. I need to draw up a diagram of what i'm talking about. i meant that after capping it off to drop back 1'' on each end and cutting it thus making 1'' thick doors on both ends, and then cutting 4''x4'' holes in the doors. Ed, If I didn't know you were a Mastersmith...
