    Some WIP Pics

Thanks everyone for all the positive feedback. I completed the sheath for knife 1 and finished up the handle on knife 2. It just needs a light buff and sharpening.

    Some WIP Pics

I finished profiling of the handle on knife #1. I contoured the handle a bit. It feels nice in the hand. Just need to give it a quick buff and then sharpen it. Now it's time to work on the sheath. This is some heavy leather. I had a hard time cutting it out with my shears. I decided to...

    Some WIP Pics

I made some good progress this weekend on two of the knives. I was able to drill and glue the handles on both knives, and started to shape one of them. I'm happy with how they are coming along so far.

    Some WIP Pics

I've been working on 6 blades for the past several months (I work slow because most of my work is done back in my home town where I have access to a shop. So I go on weekends when I can). Here are a few pictures. You can see the rest at http://www.johnsonblades.com/progress/. Comments and...

    Newbie- Flat grinding help?

This thread is very informative. I just thought I would add my 2 cents worth. I noticed an improvement in my own flat grinds after adding more light to the setup. I also noticed an improvement after adjusting the height of the grinder (I had been grinding at about chest height and saw an...

Chapnelson, If you have a template to get started with CAD Standard Lite, I would be interested in it too. Difference between camp knife and bowie

I've been thinking about making a camp knife. I did a google image search and found a lot of camp knives that I would have thought were bowies. Is there a defined difference between the two? Also, what blade thickness would you recommend for a 10"-12" camp knife? I was thinking about maybe...

    Best Groom's Cake Ever

I got married at the end of April. My wife surprised me with a groom's cake. I had no idea. The pictures don't do it justice. The baker did a great job. The knives and sheath are non-edible, permanent pieces, so I can keep them in my knife case.

    Some of my knives

Here are some pictures of several of the knives I've made over the last couple years. All fixed blades. A few different styles. I've only made 11 total. I sold one, traded one, gave away one, and put a couple to personal use.
