THIS is why you move the knife up and down when you quench.

I actually like the Alo Vera Gel. It looked like it cooled it quick!

    Alibaba or Ali-Express

The largest Item I've ever bought online from China was a guitar. It arrived safe and sound and just as the seller described. I usually buy from shops on DHGate. Usually, I stick to smaller items.

    MOEN Knife Grinding Jig

I've used every jig out there from $100 to $300 to $625 and the Moen jig is heads above the rest of them. Some may not need the jig, but others do. I'm just not as steady as I used to be, and the Moen jig is worth every cent to me...I've thrown a lot of money at this hobby and rarely find...

    MOEN Knife Grinding Jig

Jerry Moen sells those blade holders for around $250. I know because I bought two additional with my jig. Jim has also added the Teflon base. I'm not sure if Jim has used this one or not but the price is not terrible...

    Grinding jigs

Funny you mention the Revolver/Semi-Auto thing. I was one of those old diehard revolver guys! Now I have a safe full of semi-autos and only one snub nose revolver and it was a gift from my dad!

    Grinding jigs

Making knives has paid off for me in sheer satisfaction of creating a piece of usable art from scratch! I've always had a creative urge but never found the right medium until I discovered steel and knife making!

    Grinding jigs

I am also a hobbyist maker. I have sold a dozen or so, but I also give a lot away to family and friends. It started as "all I need is a nice grinder". Then a heat treat oven, then an expensive bandsaw, next a drill press...and on and on... I know I have $20K in tools for sure. I'll never sell...

    Grinding jigs

I started out freehand and never got very good at it. I always use a jig now. I do freehand the finish grits but Always leave a carbide file guide on so I don't mess up the plunge line. I have tried at least 4 different jigs of varying price ranges and even though the Moen is very expensive...

Trouble Heat Treating Baker Forge Bronze SanMai

I have been able to test a couple of places that I felt were as far from the copper as possible. I have been able to get a reading of 57 HRC. I've just decided to settle for that. I did follow the recommended heat treat from the web site. The knife itself has actually fallen by the wayside due...
