    Heat Treat Question

I couldn't say Ken but I have found that taking several readings with a rockwell tester over one area will usually vary, compared to doing the same testing on a mono steel.

    Heat Treat Question

Just something I've been doing for years. I've had some thicker blades still tugging at a magnet when I assumed they were at temperature to quench. just something I always do and seems to work for me, I've never had any problems doing it like this.

What's going on in your shop?

Nice! watch where it goes with the ivory on it. there's some folks that like to confiscate knives with ivory. I've got some nice pieces I've just been sitting on for about four years now, probably use them and just warn the owners about the laws out there.

    Stainless Steel Tool Wrap

CD,I've used 321 for years with no issues going up to 1975, I highly recommend dusting your knives with talc to help prevent the wrap welding to the blade. I had that happen a couple times years ago and it makes a real mess to the blade.

    Wet molding.

Since I invested in a sewing machine and started making a few holster along with sheaths I've been researching a lot about prepping leather. there's all sorts of potions out there that seem to work better then the last. I've boiled down my process to plain old water, no soap, no pro carve...
