    New Saya style sheath

I posted some clips I've been working on the other day. This is a sheath system utilizing one on the clips. This is a prototype....so the leather got cut undersize and some lines do not match (but will...lol) I have a very good sheath maker who charges accordingly. I also owe some free knives...

    sheath relief.....

Here's my rub.... I don't like wearing a belt. I no longer have a butt to even make one practical.....so suspenders it is... I am not alone. I love leather sheaths...along with beautiful wooden stocked rifles...etc. (roughly translates to I'm gettin' old...) so black N tactical is not my...

    karma...

A new customer took delivery last week of one of the sharpfingers I'm currently making. He was showing off his new knife to some guys at work and the local "expert" decided the sheath was crap...after some minutes of trashing the sheath...he decided the knife was "okay" and then rammed the knife...

    modified Sharpfinger...

Here's a knife I'm keeping for me. I removed the pronounced finger stop so I can use this in the kitchen....The original Oltimer has "Schrade, U.S.A. 152 on the right side of the knife. after this knife I went back to my Hauser knife script on the left side... this is the best feeling handle...

    never rains but it pours....

So...I have a graduation knife for a senior to finish. "stroppy jalopy"

I made this little knife jig to hold my 1/4 bowie knives for the final sharp. I use the strop like a file and it takes way less finesse than before. Took 20 minutes to make on a manual mill....could make it in an hour with a saw and drill press. A friend sent a link to a fancy sharpener site and...

    Paracord wrap on Kydex sheath...

So this knife is finished...not perfect. A lot of "firsts" for me on this. The young guy that ordered it got told he would be a guinea-pig...lol. I think he'll like it. The wraps is "blingier" than I would want but...hey...he's young....and likes flashy still.

    tactical bowie/kydex combo...

Here's my first design of a kydex sheath for the short Bowie I make. Well actually...I've made three so far....and this one works and does not look like a crack-head made it like the other two..... The forward tilt helps you draw it without your elbow up near your ear when the blade clears the...

    military knives for active personnel?

Does anyone know what the max sizes the different branches of military require for carry currently. Had an Air Force guy ask about my trench bowie but it was too big...he said 10" max and 5" blade length for Air Force. would be fun to small one down but thought I'd ask y'all what the different...

    Three Bowies out the door...almost....

I finished these three weeks ago...and the sheathmaker has been swamped....One is paid for the other with the white panel hasn't been paid yet and the other is Gene Kimmi's 2019 KITH....slowly catching up... He'll dye and burnish and oil still....then I get to ship 'em off...

    WWII-ish combat knife...

So a young friend was admiring one of my Bowie knives and said..."...it's too pretty for me...I would be afraid to use it...but since I can't afford it...it doesn't really matter...." The back-handed compliments that you don't want to hear. Translation: "your knife is a prom queen and costs...

    A-2 question.

I am wondering how thin I can go at the edge of a 7" bowie style blade prior to HT....I did a batch and left the .100...just to play it safe. lol. Now I'm driving up the stock of the 36 grit belt companies.... I see some guys are doing as thin as .020 at the edge. But those seem to be 5160 or...

    Wax finish for handles?

Hey guys...I did an experiment with a handle. I sanded it to 600 grit, dipped it in Min-wax pre-stain conditioner (a very thin sealer)let dry. sanded it again (600), dipped it again. let dry. 0000 steel wooled it....then coated it heavily with bowling alley wax...let dry. Buffed it on low rpm...

So you're build a batch of hidden tang knives....and you have a prototype blade, guard, and handle that you would not be able to sell...what to do...? Claim it for your own!! Shop injury from three weeks ago.....(injury pic alert)

About 3 weeks ago I injured my foot...kicked an engine stand in the shop with only socks on...didn't bleed that I could see....no pain because of neuropathy. Two days later I'm in the hospital on IV antibiotics and they're worried the bone might be infected. Nope. 5 days later I'm out....in the...

    hard milling follow up...

So I did eventually manage to hard mill a blade. Was not fun. Ruined the blade due to the bow it introduced....$60 in endmills....no more hard milling...lol. I did what I call "pattern machined". I did this to lessen the finish grinding.By leaving "valleys" there is much less material that need...
