    That Was Stupid

When I do my handle work I wrap the blade in a WD40 soaked paper towel and tape. Grabbed a towel off the bench not realizing it had Ferric on it. I managed to save the blade but it was a lot of extra work for fifteen seconds worth of stupidity.

    Live and Learn

Had a really nice filet knife going. I was trying to grind on the work rest with a push stick. The belt grabbed and pulled it between the rest and the belt. I was doing it that way because I hadn't installed a glass platen on my new grinder so I could use a magnet to hold it. Pretty stupid...

    Ferric Formula

If you like your Damascus black (and I do). Try this. I had been using a 3:1 mix of distilled water and ferric. Then doing a coffee etch to get it black. This was done with 45% distilled water, 45% ferric and 10% apple cider vinegar. I really like it. :)

    Surface Grinder Attachment

I have a surface grinder but I'm not happy with the finish I'm getting. Really don't want to hassle with converting it to 2X72 belts either. Thinking of selling it and getting an attachment from Origin Blade Maker. Anyone using one of his?

I've made one very basic slipjoint but I really want to learn to do it right. Willing to pay and to travel. Who offers one-on-one training or very small class sizes? Who...
