    Stencils?

When I first began etching my blades I tried a PC power supply and didn't get very good results. I don't think it has enough power to etch and no way to blacken at all. As for stencils, Patricia at IMG was great to work with during decision time and set up.....

What stones to get? Or something else?

Can't say what's best for YOU but I have a Lansky as well as a DMT Aligner set. I prefer the DMT stones because their wider and give ME a better edge but I prefer the Lansky holder because it holds a rounded spine blade better. I use the bench mount from Lansky even on my DMT holder (I drilled...

    Knew it had to happen....eventually....

I'll be honest here, after Ed's description of a mylar belt coming apart I have ceased using the 2 I had. Mine were in micron size and useful for touching up the edge of a blade but not worth the risk in my book.....

    Knew it had to happen....eventually....

I inspected the belt closely (after event) but can't see why if failed. There were no apparent issues and it wasn't at the seam. I wasn't leaning on it very heavy at all. Any ideas what makes the come apart for no reason?? This was a fairly new belt, <3 months.... Ed, I never thought about the...

    Working with Kirinite...

The pits are 1/2 the size of a pin head, no way my camera is going to pick them up. I thought they might have been heat induced while shaping but no matter how easy I go they keep popping up in different places. The material didn't come from Boss, another major supplier....

    Most bandaids.....

That doesn't even sound good Ed.... I use bandaids and Neosporin, makes me feel better anyway. The worst part about yesterday was it wasn't the knives that got me. It was all equipment related, that's why I quit early...... I didn't see a positive outcome in my future....
